Nice Hotel, But a Few Surprises Await!
We stayed at the Fairfield Inn & Suites in Winnemucca, Nevada last night, and while it’s a nice, newer hotel, there were a few things that gave us some memorable moments—though maybe not the kind we expected!
First off, the room was clean (mostly), spacious, and had a walk-in shower with a pretty great showerhead. Kudos for that! However, the sliding door on the shower sounded like it was auditioning for a horror movie—it scraped loudly every time we moved it. Minor fix there, I’m sure.
Now, about the bathroom… It had this lovely “sewage chic” aroma that lingered. We couldn’t quite figure out where it was coming from, but it was a little hard to ignore. Oh, and there were no tissues in the room! Maybe they were hiding? I checked everywhere. The kicker: we found a pair of men’s underwear on the floor by the bed. I’m assuming they weren’t a complimentary gift from the hotel? I left a note on the ground sotheyd be sure to find them before the next guests arrrive.
On the plus side, there was plenty of parking, though no EV charging, which is something we hoped to see in such a new hotel. Breakfast was decent, but they ran out of coffee (I know, tragic!) and didn’t refill it. For some of us, that’s an emergency situation!
Check-in was smooth, and the front desk clerk was friendly, so no complaints there. But I do have to warn you: the walls and windows are thin—really thin. We were on the first floor and could hear every bit of parking lot noise and hallway conversation. I swear I know more about my neighbor’s travel plans than my own.
All in all, it’s a nice place, but if management could take care of a few things (like, maybe, the underwear?), it would really step up...
Read moreThis is a recently remodeled hotel, the beds and furniture was nice and comfortable and the room was clean. That is about where it ends. It started with checkin, there were 2 employees at the desk when we came in a young man and a woman who appeared to be the supervisor, we were the only guests at the desk. the two of them were working on what appeared to be a problem and the supervisor was obviously upset with the young man. We stood there for 3or 4 minutes with no acknowledgement. When young man helped us he asked if we had a reservation, we did. He then said “I need your drivers license”, I gave it to him. After he looked it up he then said “i need a credit card”. I was a bit confused because i thought that my wife had paid it on line, when she told me she hadn’t, i took out my card and went to hand i to him and he said no in there and pointed at the remote card reader. When we finished he gave us our keys and said “your is on the second floor and left of the elevator. That was the extent of out conversation with him. He obvious;y had no training or customer service. Every hotel I have visited has the same set of info that is given when you checkin. Hello, Happy you are staying us, elevators are over there breakfast times, checkout time, if you need anything let us know. We had none of that, when we walked away my wife said “ that was wierd, he obviously didnt want to be here. In the room it was a wired room it had a hallway that was 18 feet long and the room itself was small, the A/C roared when it ran, the shower had very low water pressure. The only reason reason n I gave this place a 2 instead of a 1 was the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. I would never...
Read moreWe have family in Winnemucca and were excited to try the fancy new hotel in town. The hotel itself was good. The customer service and cleanliness was poor at best. Upon arrival the bed looked like it had been slept in prior to our arrival. The bathroom was pretty clean, but not to typical marriot standards. We registered 4 people staying in the room, 2 adults and 2 children. There were only 4 pillows in the room and after negotiating with the front desk girl, I was allowed one additional pillow even tho she said it was against their policy. The flat pillows in the room were awful, 2 of their pillows equaled one normal pillow. To top it off the clerk made me feel like a jerk for even asking for additional pillows. We also got hassled when asking for additional linens for the pullout couch. After the first night, we asked for additional coffee pods since their rooms are only serviced every other day. Unfortunately, they were completely out of coffee. Beyond that point, we didn't bother asking the front desk for anything else. The room only had 2 towels for 4 registered guests. It was easier to go buy extra towels amd pillows at walmart then negotiate again with the staff. When they serviced the room they restocked toilet paper and left us 2 new towels. Nothing else was cleaned or made-up in the room when it was serviced. The breakfast was okay but the women that was putting the food out complained about having to do her job every morning during breakfast. This place would be a completely different hotel with better staff. We will not be staying at this marriot...
