It’s a nice hotel overall - a pure B&B style where the owners literally live in the same place, cook you breakfast and the place itself is a real large house. The common area includes a dining room and a living room with a TV (a good one) and a metal fireplace which the guests aren’t allowed to use. The view on the river and the forest are nice if the weather is good. The elder gentleman who met us and let us in was very kind and nice, as well as his lady. Of course those people are really lovely and the review is not about the people but about the overall experience. There was also a lovely dog running around the house which is nice if you are dog lover but beware if you have toddlers (it was barking for example which may scary your child) or any allergy. The room was pretty small. It didn’t have a TV or a fridge. The washing basin was in the room itself instead of being located in the bathroom. Maybe other rooms have different configurations so make sure to double check. The toiletries were mediocre. The hair conditioner was just gone. The body lotion was lacking. The room had some insects flying around even though the window seemed close. The bed was small but the mattress was of high quality. The room was also nicely decorated with flowers and small pumpkins (really liked it but honestly would have preferred a body lotion). The sound insulation in the house was not good - beware if you want to have fun in the room. We heard someone doing the dishes at the ground floor from our room at the top floor. They also offered some wine and sweet baked goods in the afternoon which was great. The breakfast was good - not a lot of options but I liked what was served (omelette with sausages) and it was freshly cooked. The banana bread was great too. The stay gives you a vibe of visiting a friend and staying at their place. Overall given the price of 300 USD per night it’s a solid 3 star experience to me, close to 4 stars but not reaching it. We’ve been to hotels in similar areas with much better stuffed rooms (TV, fridge, top toiletries, even hot tubs at times), more things to do in the hotel itself, and all of that at a cheaper price. This would probably be a 5 star experience to me at 150-180 USD per night. I can recommend this place for one night if you are able to get a room at a...
Read moreWe were disappointed to find ourselves to be the only occupants of the inn. But despite we being the only occupants, we were given a small room and we bumped into the slanting walls multiple times. The bed skirts of the bed was torn and the toiletries had expiration dates way back in 2005. The toothpaste in the toilet was used and had brown stains and the toothbrush was an opened(not sure if it was used before)
Another disappointment was that no breakfast was served in the inn and we were asked to come to a coffee house a mile away. Not something you look for if you want to be in a cosy inn.
We were told that there would be hot coffee in the morning and tea in the evening. Sorry, no coffee nor hot tea in the inn.
The pictures and exteriors look nice but there was absolutely no service at the inn which is a terrible disappointment.
When we returned at the end of the day, we were disappointed to see the place as is(no cleaning; no towel replacement) I guess we believed the older reviews and should have done more homework before choosing this place. Tips for people who are considering the place Ask if the room has slanting walls. If you weigh more than 175 pounds and are taller than 5.8, you may want to avoid the rooms on the third floor Ask specifically if breakfast will be served in the inn. If you decide to still check out the place, review the place when you get there and raise your concerns immediately.
Also, the location is 7-8 miles away from the town. There are plenty of other bed and breakfast places close by. So choose carefully.
To their credit, the coffee place(which is also run by the inn owner) was great. The service there was great too.. But I guess this review is for the inn and I will stick to...
Read moreMy husband and I really enjoyed our stay at the Inn. Alyssa and Justin were wonderful hosts, always available for questions, and had some great recommendations. And of course there was Bentley (their dog) who was always available for pets on the head! Breakfast was perfect and a highlight of the day. We especially liked the waffles with blueberry compote and homemade whipped cream and afternoon chocolate banana bread! The inn is a few minutes outside of Woodstock which was what we were looking for. The drive into town is short, beautiful, and follows a gorgeous river which runs right behind the inn. Our favorite memories were sitting in the backyard watching the river, drinking the coffee and tea that was always available, and cooking s'mores. The inn itself is a beautiful blend of antique and farmhouse modern. We enjoyed playing board games at night and there looked to be a wide variety of movies and books available. We didn't end up using the hot tub, but I can imagine how lovely it would be on a cold night. We will definitely be back and I would 100% recommend the Woodbridge Inn to anyone looking to stay...
