We have stayed at many state parks between Georgia and Wyoming. Victoria Landing Campground is sadly worst state park camping experience we've had. From the time we arrived to check in, the host was very unfriendly, we didn't get a welcome. The only words they said were to turn left and then turn at your 2nd right to get to our site. The site was OK. Much of the edges of the asphalt page were breaking off. But aside from that, we were very happy with the site. Upon leaving, I stopped at the dump station to do the dirty business. The bath house is nearby so I thought I would wash my hands before returning the the truck. The bath house was not well kept. No soap to wash hands, dirty sink with that appeared to be someone had clipped their beard and not bothered to cleanup. I proceeded to checkout and the host held a net out of the office window for me to drop the parking pass into. I thanked him and he didn't even acknowledge it. My adult kids came to visit us on Saturday since they don't live far away. I advised the host they would be coming. When they arrived, they checked in and found their way to our site The first thing they said when they got out of their car wad how unfriendly the hosts were. My wife and I often talk about being campground hosts when we retire. Some people just don't have the personality to be a host. If you aren't a friendly and welcoming person, you should do...
Read moreSmall campground but the sites are very nice . Sites are heavily wooded with lots of privacy compared to other open air sites we've stayed at where your neighbors are right there within site. Water and electric hookups, depending on the site you can typically park 3 cars in the driveway some sites can park more. Most sites have a small trail that you can walk right down to the edge of the water and our site was close to the beach as well. Makes it easy if you bring your own Inflatables or kayaks and such to drag down to the water.
The only negative thing I would probably say has to do with the bathrooms. They could really use a good pressure washing from top to bottom to clean the walls as there were lots of bugs. Maybe they just give it a quick cleaning daily versus a nice deep spring cleaning at the start of the season. We feel that the bathrooms at the McKinney Campground sites are much better so we give them five stars. That is the only reason for the three stars in this review. Hope this was helpful!
8/26 (update) looks like they may have done a little cleaning to the bathrooms, and since this is pretty local to us (less than 30 min) it is very easy for us to come back and spend a few days. I definitely wouldn't rule this small campground out so be sure to at least...
Read moreOur family has stayed at most of the campgrounds at Allatoona, this is our first time at Victoria. It's now our favorite one. We really like the layout, it's alot flatter ...and better laid out than all the others.
Facilities are in better shape than most Corps of Engineer properties. This one has 2 diffrent bathrooms like McKinney. It also has a beach area and 2 boat ramps.
Only issues we had were there are no "no wake" areas down by the water so if you are putting in with kayak or standup paddleboard out can get pretty choppy.
The other issue was the electrical connection ti the camp power was so old our electric line wouldn't stay in the receptacle properly and kept falling out. We told a maintenance man and they sent out a couple contractor electricians to fix the problem. Took about 3 hours to ahow up which I am guessing isn't so bad considering it's COE land, and they had it fixed in about an hour.
One of the host couples by the name of Dave and Elena Bryan were absolutely wonderful. Very professional, very kind, and very knowledgeable about the campground and area. Out of all the COE campsites were have stayed at these two were our favorites , hopefully they'll be back next year.
Definitely a...
