Best Western Gateway Inn — Hotel in Yazoo City

Room was clean, warm, all the plumbing worked. TV worked, but there was no remote. Climate control worked. Everything was fine.

Breakfast in the morning was a typical continental breakfast. (Scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits & gravy. There was also some packaged muffins and cinnamon rolls.) The automatic pancake machine was especially entertaining.

There were two things about this hotel that I didn't care for, one can easily be addressed. The other I'm not so sure about.

The one I'm not sure about is the steps to get up the stairs. Which you must use as there is no elevator.

On the first flight of stairs, the top stair is taller than standard height. So it's pretty easy to catch your toe and fall.

The other issue was that I desperately needed to do a load of laundry. In the laundry room there was an empty vending machine, and a soap vending machine with an "Out of Order" sign.

The washer did work, unfortunately the drier does not. So I was left with a $2 load of wet laundry. I informed the front desk that the drier didn't work, and the lady said she would tell maintenance. But I still had cold wet clothes. That...

I would have given a 5 star...they obviously were in final stages of remodeling..the public areas were fresh, clean and nicely done. the staff were friendly, even making fresh coffee in the middle of the afternoon for us. the breakfast was great for a buffet style...then, after 2 nights stay by 2 retired CSMs with a combined military service of 56 years, (having stayed at literally hundreds of motels/hotels) they managed to ruin the entire experience. We were there hunting...at night. So, on getting to sleep at 6am (planning on leaving at noon) at 11am, someone knocked on the door. I quickly replied we could be out by 1130. He then yelled 'check out at 11, not 1130! Two minutes later the mgr/owner? called the room saying the same thing. So we literally rushed out with our stuff in hands, not packed. Even having to brush teeth in the public bathroom. I have never heard of a motel/hotel that didn't have some provision for a late checkout, nor one that yelled at the customer, then harassing them on the phone. Id recommend...

The hotel was ok,not of noise which is good.I stay at a lot of best western hotels this was for sure the worst. The family lives on the first floor so prepare to hit the stairs no elevator.no kids unless you want them seeing the staff half naked in shorts and flip flops very unprofessional.i called 12 times before arrival they told me that had grab and go they didn’t even have freash coffee or water. So they lied and had a package delivered they opened and retapped it why I don’t know. I had beg for fresh sheets and batteries w remote which was taken back my last night. If your going yazoo just stay at the Hampton or days inn Better quality for what you pay. This place is the worst customer service I ever received. I stayed may 14-17 I have pictures and Receipt because I see that the owners like to come on here and try to say that people who get bad reviews didn’t really stay which is a lie but we aren’t they should...
