Colorful on the outside, funky, creative remodel on the inside, but I don't know how this even merits two stars because my room has no windows and no hot water. The woman who runs the place is charming, but for some reason had us access our rooms from the sketchy alley. A rickety stair leads up to the second floor where there is a door that opens into a hallway, except to get into the hallway you have to squeeze into the alcove next to the first room, close the door, then walk around (the door should be rehung to swing the other way). When we arrived, the hallway was sweltering. An exhaust fan whirred mightily trying to suck the hot air out, but there was little wonder at why it was so hot in the hallway when I discovered that each room's air-conditioning unit vented into the hallway! Four (or more?) air-conditioning units pumping hot air into the hotel corridor is bizarre at best, and I wonder how it possibly meets building code?! The good news is that they did keep the rooms cool. So, back to the access: it turned out there is a stair at the front which leads right down to Main Street where there is plenty of parking. Read moreFun, historic, attention to detail. Great place to stay if you appreciate old buildings and quirky furnishings. They provided a fan to help circulate the AC, so if you can give grace to an upstairs room in a very old building with tall ceilings, you will enjoy the change from boring chain hotels on the highway. One note-if you arrive after 5 and pick up your own key, there is a certain ghost town vibe to Main Street that might be unsettling. We didn’t see another living soul from 7 pm until the next morning as we left town. No fault of the hotel, just a heads up. After-hours caretaker was available and helpful via text. A fire station is directly behind the hotel with lights on all night so it...
