Blue Door Cottages — Hotel in Yeoman

We had a family reunion in the city and chose Blue Door Cottages because we could all be in our own cottages but still be close to one another. We were greeted by a rude and irritated property manager who made us feel like every question or request was a hassle. He gave us a run down of all the rules like we were high school children at a sleepover. We were told that we had to adhere to strict policy of 11pm quiet hours. As an adult on vacation I was a little upset by this rule especially because we had dealt with the Manager for several weeks working out the details of our arrival and he never mentioned a curfew. Upon arrival he was very short and non-accomodating. He said that he had to fire his staff because they weren't doing their job and hasnt been able to keep good staff for some reason. A short conversation with him and I am more convinced that his attitude is probably the reason he cannot keep good staff. We rented 7 out of the 13 cottages. Some were leaking water from the rain and smelled of mold. Another had electricity issues which he blamed on us keeping the air running constantly causing it to freeze. We knew that was a lie because we took pictures of the back of air conditioner to prove that wasn't the problem. The property would actually be nice if it were kept better and if the manager were more personable. A smile and good attitude go a long way when dealing with the public. Overall we made the best of the weekend because we were together as a family but definitely not a place I would like to re-visit while under the same management. I can safely say we will not be returning to Blue...

My boyfriend and I visited last week for 2 nights just for a little getaway and should have asked for a refund right away but decided to just stick it out because we had just drove 2 hours from home. When we first entered the room it was extremely musty smelling so much that our clothes got the scent on them. It looked like the place hadn't been swept in months. There were dust balls and dirt right at the door and behind the dresser...that we had to pull out towards the bed because of a very very small TV. The cable box didn't work so we had to get in touch with the manager for him to bring in a new one. There was hair on the pillow cases along with stains and dirt and hair all over the comforter. The chair cover looked like it's never been washed it was very dusty. The bathroom floor was disgusting there was mold in the corners. The dishes had dried crusty food on them still. The only real clean thing about the place was the pool. We also didn't like that the manager of the place must run it by himself and you have to text him to get a hold of him and he may or may not be on site. The WiFi was terrible which is bad because Monticello has very spotty cell service. Overall, bad experience. We just put the food we brought in the freezer and ate out because we didn't think we should have to clean a place up when it should already be clean....especially for the price you pay. Will...

This place is very nice and quiet. I stayed here 2 nights. First off, there was not any instructions on how to operate the shower but once we found a YouTube video on how to run the shower we were good to go. Additionally, the bedding smelled of body odor from previous guests. Although we didn't complain it could be a problem for other guest. Also, the outside lights were not operational. There was not any light bulbs on the porch lamps on any of the units. In addition the lighting on site was not operational at all. We were in the dark once the natural light was gone. Fortunate it was the peek of summer during out visit so we had a lot of daylight. It would have been helpful to have lights around the whole site. Cleaning in the unit was subpar, they clearly do not move furniture to dust or vacumm. Also, the grout and tiles in the bathroom seemed to have not been given much care with cleaning due to some grout areas being light color and other areas very dark which to me would indicate dirty or some sort of mold. I would return to this place to due to the location and quiet serenity that we experienced during our stay. I would recommend this place and return again. If it was given more care with the upkeep and cleaning it would easily get a 5 star...
