Reviewed Site-by-Site. This is a perfect place to stay if you have the need for a larger space! The folks that work the park are friendly. Many spaces are pretty private, which we prefer. Groups sites are great for those that camp w/friends and family or if you prefer a much larger area for yourselves. The downside is availability - if you want to stay for more than a couple days, it’s hard to find one single space to accommodate. We often stay 5-14 days and usually have to move to a few different spaces during that time and sometimes have to leave on Friday and come back on Sunday - lack of weekend availability.
I have compiled some notes on each space, will update as they change.
Note: Sites 1-13 Are great for larger RVs with a bit more elbow room between the sites. Site 1: No direct shade, set atop a small hill, first space to the right upon entry. Sites 2 &4: Group Sites. Minimal shade. Sites 3, 5, 6 : All Great Spaces! Shade trees. Lots of privacy with access to the large adjacent grassy area. Site 6 is one of our favorites! Roomy and Private all around! Site 7: This one has a lot of sunshine, little to no shade and no privacy. Site 8: Group site set in a wooded area of the park, close to the road so a bit of road noise, private. Site 9: Little to no shade, road noise. Site 10: Group site very close to "well lit" bath house. Site 11: Across from "well lit" bath house, but your rig would not face it, rather, it'd face the sports field of the adjacent school. Lots of big lights and can be noisy. Site 12: Group site next to bath house and trash cans, but not really affected by the bright lights. Large and roomy. Site 13: Private and good shade. Faces the school but not too noisy. Site 14: Large group site - minimal shade. Site 15: Very Private, shady, close to adjoining school. Site 16: Less private, no trees or shrubbery between the space and the road, so your backside is exposed. Some shade. Site 17: Private, close to school, but not a disturbance. Shade. Sites 18 & 19: No shade, very little privacy. Site 20: Interesting location, great view, no shade but set on a slight hill so nice overlook. Sites 21, 24, 26: These spaces butt up against brush/wooded areas, not the largest of spaces, and may be subject to visits from small animals that live in an around the shrubbery. Sites 22, 23, 25, 27: Little to no shade or privacy. #25 seems popular with larger Class A RVs. Sites 28, 29, 30: Dirt, dirt, and more dirt, backs up against dirt hills. #29 and #30 are pathways to a small bridge that leads to trails and the other side of the park, so you can expect lots of foot and pet traffic in between these sites. Site 31: Across from bathhouse, but private with lots of trees and shrubs around. Ample shade and privacy. Site 32: Group site - My other favorite! Very roomy, private, wonderful view surrounded by trees and shrubs! The backside of the space isn't real shady, and it's close to the bath house, but it's not a bother. Sites 33 & 35: Shady with a bit of a view. Site 34: Shade but little to no privacy, very exposed to vehicle and foot traffic. Sites 37 & 38: Not a lot of privacy or shade but comfortable with lots of elbow room and grassy area for dogs. Sites 39 & 41: Pretty exposed, no shade. Site 39 right next to bath house. Sites 38 & 40: Grassy with some shade, private with views. Site 42: Sits on a large grassy area overlooking the entrance to the park and the other sites across the way. Very private, some shade. I like...
Read moreThis is the 2nd San Bernardino County park we've stayed at this week, and while this place has grass, the maintenance here is not much better. Trash on the ground. There were two restroom buildings near site #7. Both were filthy and had no TP. One had a collapsed ceiling from a roof leak. Whether new or old showers, neither one had hot water so we showered onboard. The showers at the other end were newer and nicer, though filthy with overflowing toilets, and were pay showers (50 cents). Didn't test the water temp. The older bathrooms are open-air. They have a partial roof and partial walls but are open and exposed to the elements. If it is raining you will get wet while sitting in the stalls. Newer bathrooms are enclosed but filthy. This is an urban park. One end up against the highway and there is noise, though not noticeable when you are buttoned up. Also up against a middle school with a football stadium and night time practice. The other end backs up against houses. Some of the sites are just feet from the fence of someone's back yard or a school parking lot. There are some trees and bushes encroaching on sites and roadways, and some roads have huge humps from tree roots that no one fixes. Park is very unsafe, no police presence or enforcement rangers. The most we saw in three days was an un-armed sheriff's civilian volunteer patrol drive through one time. There is a code needed for after hours access but anyone can just walk in at any time. Check-in is supposed to be 3pm, we got here at 1:30 and they let us in without complaint. Because we came here on a holiday there were a number of sites filled with drunken locals making a lot of noise. They all left by 4pm. Check out time is 11:30 but is apparently not enforced. The fire rings aren't in the campsites, they are large group fire rings in central areas. Note that this park has a very large day use area, 3 small lakes, and a family water park. So plan on this being a noisy park on weekends, holidays and in the summer. No camp host. No staff here after the gate closes. There are a few multi-RV sites, 250ft long pull thru with 3 separate...
Read moreWe really love Yucaipa Regional Park. In the summers, they are literally next door to the Yucaipa Community Park, with Movies in the Park and Concerts In The Park that are free to attend, and have concessions and relaxed family-friendly seating on terraced hillsides. But back to Yucaipa Regional Park - there are several lakes with fishing available, a swimming area with water slides and a "beach" (entry to swimming is extra, as is the charge to ride the slides), and there are trees galore. There are well-maintained picnic and camping areas, clean and utilitarian bathrooms, and the trash is picked up on a regular basis. Hiking trails are well-maintained and numerous, and of course there is the ever popular Frisbee Golf. This is a great place for yoga, swimming, hiking, bike-riding, scooter-riding, trail runs, and more. Very family friendly, and there are campfire pits scattered throughout the campground as well as charcoal-style grills that are located at every campsite and in many of the day use picnic areas. Lots of parking, and lots of wildlife - we've seen a big cat, coyotes, raccoons, squirrels, frogs, lizards, birds of all imaginable kinds, etc.
Summer time evenings in the campground can get a little crazy on occasion if you have partying neighbors, but overall it is a peaceful spot with - did I mention? - lots, and lots of beautiful, mature trees. It is one of the shadiest campgrounds in the surrounding local area, and the park staff members at the kiosk are some of the friendliest and most helpful out of all the San Bernardino and Riverside county regional parks.
If you enjoy fall colors and leaves, this is also a great place to come to take pictures or play in the fallen leaves. Definitely one of our favorite RV...
