Absolutely AMAZING... only LTVA with Lakefront/View spots and quick Water access. Beautiful Foothills, Hiking, Biking and Value but be warned... winds are often extreme about 3-5 days a month 15+mph and strong 10-15mph another 5-10 days a month. This is 100% Dry Camping with no defined spots. You can park in a community with at least 20'+ between spots or find a secluded area for more privacy. There is a Centrally Located Service Center to dump Septic and Trash and fill Potable Water.
Many communities also have water spigots.
Restrooms at the Service Center or at the 2 boat launch sites. North Boat launch/Park has 7 min. Hot Showers for $1.
There's a church a Mile or 2 away providing other services. Mail, Thrift Store, Propane. Some services are available at a premium at Hidden Shores Resort on the River 3 miles away but major supplies are a 40 mile round trip to Fortuna Foothills AZ. (East Yuma)
A 6 month Winter 185 day Pass is $180. So mind-blowing inexpensive. Just make sure you are equipped for Off Grid living. SOLAR, GOOD BATTERIES, PROPANE POWER SAVING APPLIANCES Etc... Oct 15 - April 15, Pass is transferable to several other Regional LTVA'S but if you want a lake/river close, this is the one for you.
A few more Donkeys and Flies but they're not stupid, they like lakes and rivers too.
Verizon ONLY here. Zero chance for phone service otherwise.
Advantages to Quartzite: Close access to Goods, Services, Seminars Jobs and expositions. But not as beautiful and no...
Read moreLooking forward to my 3rd winter at IDLTVA. I stay for 4 months. Nov - Feb. I prefer ID to the noisier LTVAs up at Quartzsite, where the constant roar of I-10 and Hwy 95 and everyone’s quads & such. IDLTVA does feature some airplane and artillery noise from the Yuma Proving Ground, but its deep and jolting, and not constant. Lots of birdlife at the reservoir, burros and coyotes are common - COYOTES WILL EAT YOUR DOG - do not let small dogs out of your sight or even on a long leash near brushy areas. During winter, there’s a Jam Session every Sunday at the Gravel Pit Pavilion, pretty fun stuff. Also organized rides into the desert, a drone & RC plane club, just about anything people can come up with. No Vending is allowed, however. The place organizes itself into informal neighborhoods. I’m hoping to find one this year where people hate generator noise as much as i do. GO SOLAR!!!! :) CB Channel 12 is not used much anymore, lots of people have gone to Ham radio, 146.52 Mhz is the usual spot. North Shore is regular 14-day BLM camping, South Shore is the LTVA area. S*uaw Lake is also 14-day limit; that’s where the pay-showers are. I love...
