Went there for 3 days with my bf. The place is about 10 min drive from Colonia, but feels like you are far way from civilization and the crazy noisy world. Green, net and immaculate, hence trendy, with a chic and rustic style. The owners are always there and are involved in everything going on, very interesting people that created a unique an amazing place! On first impression the place seems ancient, but in fact it is only 20 years old. The house is full of interesting artesanal and art items, paintings and is super cosy. We came in the beginning of May, when it was already fresh and 1 day was very rainy and it was so nice to spend evenings by the fireplace with a book and a glass of nice win. The breakfasts are superb and the meals outstanding. Mario and Sergio are doing an amazing job, their team is very friendly and create a wonderful ambient atmosphere. Also they have bikes and the surrounding countriside is very picturesque. You can ride horses nearby or go to Carmelo for a...
Read moreThis is an exceptional establishment. My wife and I could not stop talking about how pretty and charming la Casa de los Limoneros was. Mario and Sergio made us feel very comfortable and welcomed. When we arrived, they had a “small lunch” prepared for use, which was a lovely lentil stew, empanadas, and a wonderful dish that featured eggplant spread over bread. The rooms were very clean, well stocked, with no issues at all. It has a very, “farm house” feel to it. The beds were extremely comfortable. Another stroke of genius was the inclusion of Wi-Fi in every room. Due to the location of Casa de los Limoneros, we did not have great cell phone reception, but the wi-fi more than made up for it. My wife and I will certainly be returning for a...
Read moreWhat a fool I was. I only booked two nights here. Yes, we had other places in Uruguay and Buenos Aires we wanted to explore during this trip. But what we didn't realize is that Los Limoneros would be such a delight. ||||It's a confluence of so many extraordinary elements that make a stay memorable. One is the staff, led by owners Mario and Sergio. Sergio's fantastic cooking and gracious hospitality, Mario's intellectual depth and knowledge of the area, the Monet-ready garden (complete with lily ponds), the lemon groves, the lovely pool, the proximity to a gorgeous historic town and beach... wow. I want to stay there for a month, at least. Two nights! My wife and I were just starting to get into the Limoneros vibe when we had to leave....
