A note to all -
This hotel is listed on Agoda under 2 different names- Wyndham hotel & DANA PEARL BAY (under this name, owners are renting their own apartments) Have a read at the reviews below. We booked the Dana Pearl, but then read all this and canceled one hour after booking. This review is for booking with the individual apartment owners and not the hotel brand itself.
If you book with the owners, there are possibilities of very unpleasant situations, If you want to stay here, should pay the extra money and book with the Hotel brand itself I guess. The pool was the only reason my wife and I wanted to stay, other than the great views from the 29th floor, it is a normal hotel. Below are experiences other non-hotel booking guests have had.
"updated since hotel has replied - in their reply, they have said that the hotel selling rooms to local residents is false information. However, this was confirmed in person by the hotel managers when I asked about why they physically assaulted me - they said that due to the fact I booked through airbnb, my room was bought by a local resident and so they have every right to assault me. So who is lying, the hotel managers or the customer response team? I have also seen certificates of purchase as proof from the local residents, so this response is a complete lie. I don't believe lying in reviews is professional and it definitely shouldn't be legal.
Horrible service, I am in complete shock at the way this place treats guests. There are screaming protests with police and security downstairs in the lobby, with hotel guests protesting and staff pushing / physically fighting them.
Apparently the hotel 'sold' some rooms to local people, promising them they could use all facilities same as the hotel guests (I think the hotel has a lot of space and not a lot of people choosing their rooms, as its empty a lot of the time). After the locals purchased these rooms, the hotel suddenly decided to revoke those rights, treating anyone who 'bought' a room as a criminal. It's really horrible to see - I am impartial personally, but I've witnessed multiple paying guests be aggressively denied access to the pool, gym, communal areas, lounges and restaurants all because they 'booked through the wrong website.'
It's disgusting to watch, I feel really bad for the owners and innocent guests who 'booked incorrectly'. The hotel owners and staff need to learn how to treat humans, because this is not okay. Definitely not even worth one star, I would give zero if I could. It's a shame because it could be a nice place if there wasn't so much animosity from the staff. I want to leave.
This hotel is horrible in services. They will not treat you as a guest but like an homeless begging to use their facilities, if YOU DO NOT BOOK THE ROOM DIRECTLY WITH THEM BUT VIA OTHER CHANNELS (I booked via Airbnb) I was using their slippers while walking inside the hotel and was requested to give them back immediately by the pool man. As he said it belonged to the pool, and he didn’t care if I have to walk by my barefoot after that. Meanwhile, I took the slippers from my room, it was there since I checked in the room. His name was Cuong The checked in lobby is like a crazy market with lots of people all the time. Even you can’t find a proper seat to wait The bellman never open the door for you and never press the lift number for you. They even said to me they would get a heavy fine if they help customers like ME And when my kid was swimming, the pool man came to kick her out immediately though her name was registered in their system (I have checked his computer screen and doublechecked with the hotel manager). How can an adult treat a kid like that? Not mention we were the guest here! Please work out with your internal management, your hotel is a big mess and your guest will get mad because we even cant feel like...
Read moreOverall I had great stay and most of the staff at the Wyndham Golden Bay were very nice; however, there was one employee who made my stay an outstanding one that has me already planning another visit to the Wyndham Golden Bay. ||His name is Mr. Viet Khan "Kevin" and I believe he is a rooms division or front office manager. From the day I checked in he went above and beyond to ensure my stay was unforgettable. Let me give you a few examples: 1. After checking in I went down to the front desk and asked if I could have a tour of the hotel since it is very large with over 1500 rooms. Initially, one of the people at the front desk handed me a map and was showing me the hotel areas on the map. I already had the map, I wanted someone to show me around to get oriented since I planned to stay for a while. Kevin overhearing the conversation came over and offered to give me a tour. He me showed all the relevant areas of the hotel and made sure I knew about the current promotions (Spa, buffet, and F29 restaurant). I ended up booking a table for dinner at the F29 restaurant on the top floor and Kevin made sure I had a great table. Having a wonderful meal up there on the first night was a great start to my stay. 2. Dietary Concerns - I have some digestive issues and try to eat very healthy and I was worried about finding some of the items in Vietnam; however, Kevin was able to direct me to where I could find everything which ensured my digestive issues were not a problem during my stay. 3. Things to do - Kevin also was great at offering suggestions on what to do in Danang. As local who was born and raised in Danang it was very clear that Kevin knows and loves his city dearly. I was lucky to benefit from his many insights and recommendations on what to do as not only did I have a great stay at the Wyndham but, I was left with a deep love for Danang and Vietnam in general. I also wanted to point out that Kevin speaks great English. His English was better than any other employee that worked at the hotel making it very easy for me to communicate precisely. I could go on and on as I stayed in Danang for a month. Thanks to Kevin, I will definitely be back. Thank you Mr. Viet Khan I really appreciate all of your help. ||I would like to add that If I were a leader at Wyndham Hotel Group I would be fast tracking Kevin to be the G.M. at one my properties in the very near future as the company would surely benefit from someone like Kevin at the helm. ||Facilities: |Pool: The hotel has an amazing infinity pool on the 29th floor that not only provided amazing sunset views, but a great place to swim some laps as it is 66 meters long. I am in the best shape now after spending a month there and swimming every day then I have been in years.||Spa - the spa not only provides massages and other spa services but it has 4 different saunas, a jacuzzi, and an ice room.||Restaurants: F29 on the top floor with great views of the whole city. There are also 3 restaurants on the lobby level where you can find Western, Korean, and...

edited review since hotel has responded
I would like to say that despite their reply to my review, this hotel is in actual fact doing nothing to help or change the way they are treating people here. I am currently still here as I've paid for it, although looking to move asap if this continues. Again, the hostile and aggressive actions of the staff (clearly directed from higher up) leads to a very horrible environment, and I have been offered no compensation whatsoever. If the hotel wants to put their guests in a 'class' system depending on which platform you book on, why have they made these different options available in the first place? It's at best greedy, and completely unethical. If they want to provide the service of a higher level establishment, they really need to figure out their attitude (and stop physically assaulting people).
Ignore the good reviews - apparently rules have recently changed here and as of now, it is awful here. The staff are absolutely awful - very hostile and unhelpful. There is a split in the hotel between 'proper hotel guests' and 'guests from rented out apartments' and you are treated like second class citizens at best. criminals at worst.
To name a few things, during my stay I asked for a cork screw and was told 'we have but not for you.' We asked to use the printer, they said 'no you can't as you didn't book with us directly'. They also now try to charge you 800,000 per person PER USE to use the swimming pool (which is pretty rusty and not as good as the photos). When I tried to go out to just look at the pool, I was pushed back aggressively by a lifeguard who shouted NO at me. To think physically assaulting a paying customer is absolute madness to me. They advertise nice lounges and places to sit, but in actual fact they ask who you booked through, and if you don't have the right answer, they tell you to leave (an empty lounge). The hotel is empty the majority of the time and I can see why - avoid at all costs. Even if I'd booked through their specific site, I would feel incredibly uncomfortable seeing them making other guests move / leave / be pushed around, etc.
I've never left a 1* review now but it's genuinely absolutely appalling behaviour. No matter what booking platform you booked on, if you are staying in the hotel you should be treated with respect and be able to leave your room without feeling like a criminal.
If they change their disgusting rules and attitude, I may reconsider my review, as some parts of the hotel are nice enough, but the disgusting, rude, inconsiderate and attitude (physically manhandling guests who are just trying to look at the pool), make it the worst place I've...
