This hotel is a comfortable, clean and friendly place to spend a night. Ben Tre is a nice town to visit if you want to see the 'real vietnam' (never saw another westerner in our time there). The location is a little far out of the town centre (about a 40 minute walk) but still good value for money. ||However, we are primarily writing this tour to urge any visitors not to book a boat tour with Trung, who promotes his tours through the hotel. The reasons are many but I will list a few.||- We felt bullied and rushed into booking the tour in the first place. |- We paid 700000 for 3 hours, transfers to the river and our bus ticket to our next location (nearby vinh long).|- The tour lasted only 2 hours.|- Much of the tour was wasted at obscure 'attractions' we did not ask to see.|- Nor did we understand these attractions as our guide didn't speak a word of English. |- We felt pushed into buying products at the various places we were taken to. |- Trung was not present throughout the tour, despite constantly referring to 'my boat' when pitching his tour, and telling us he would be our guide. |- A highlight was the final 20 minutes of our tour, where we were simply sat at an anonymous, tourist trap restaurant and were offered overpriced food/drinks. This cannot be considered part of a tour!|- At the end of the tour, the terms changed to mean we would now be expected to pay for them to take us by motorbike to the bus stop. At 40000 each this did not break the bank but it left a hugely sour taste in our mouth after a completely unsatisfactory tour. We had no choice but to pay, otherwise we would have been left stranded. |-The bus he arranged for us didn't even go to Vinh Long and dropped us off 6km out of the city at the mercy of motorcycle taxis (despite Trung telling us we would be taken to the centre) ||We urge you to go to ben tre, stay with hai long, but do not give your money to Trung. Arrange a...
Read moreOn arrival this place looks lovely, then you realise it's not the lovely looking place but behind it down an alley. Not bothered about the non English speaking receptionist one iota, it's the lounging dogs that bite, welcome! The room smelt like mould and the sheets were brown. The smell was a result of the bathroom, it was a shambles, no ceiling panels and drips from the damp, the wet room effect pooled into the bedroom, and someone else's waste came from a pipe into our bathroom down a drain. I'm happy to stay in run down spots but this place described itself as something it was not online, it was cheap Tbf, but the icing on the cake was, having left something in the room, running back to find the cleaner re-folding our used towels for the...
Read moreFine discount hotel however high pressure tour guide operates out of lobby. If he approaches you tell him in no uncertain terms where to go. Had a suspicious feeling about him and should have listened to it tour was not as advertised. Was told he would accompany whole time, didnt, and various items of tour were absent (cooking lesson from his mom) or were not paid for as it stated on our reciept (final bus trip out). If you are aigning a reciept woth this tours make sure to get the person to print full name (ask to see photo id to verifiy)otherwise it is useless when they scam you.
