Service:|Than Than and her family are always willing to go the extra mile. They give you all sort of advice on local things and help you in organizing your onward travel and bus routes and that - rare in Vietnam these days - often without any commission.|We really enjoyed the way we were treated and taken care of at Ngoi Sao very much.||Rooms:|+very clean|+everything in working order and decent shape|+quiet AC|+shampoo, soap etc. provided|-room a little like an OR/hospital with all white tiles etc. and little character|-smoking rooms/ashtrays (the next room over was smoking and you could smell that)|-“garden view” means a little window towards a tiny piece off green wasteland full of rubbish (save the extra cash if you can)|- hardest mattress I have slept on in my life (like ply wood, honestly - but ok, if you like it like that I guess)||Location:|Ngoi Sao is on the other side of the river from Can Tho‘s city center. We knew this when we booked, but underestimated the time it actually takes to walk into town. Taking the bridge or the ferry takes about the same time (around 20-25min) and you might be better off using a Taxi or Grab, if you have a working phone at least one way - so consider the extra cost.|There is also a huge supermarket or shopping center nearby (just 10min away) - so cheap and to us a little weird but still an interesting asian shopping experience. ;)||Incidentals:|+They have different Mekong-Tours on offer with pickup from the Hotel very early in the morning (like 5am) to start you off with the beautiful Mekong sunrise. We opted for the 7hr(?) Mekong boat and cycling tour with the floating markets and all sorts of other stuff. Even though @ $29/p it was a bit steep, we still think it was one of the highlights of our time in Asia and other tour operators in town were more expensive even. If you do a tour through Ngoi Sao, ask for ?Hiu? (pron: ‘Hugh’) as your guide. The tour with him was a blast. ||+affordable laundry service (20.000VND/kg)|||If you get a cheaper rate than in town and are ok with the walk and everything, than this is a clean, decent place to spend the night with a nice family...
Read morethe guesthouse is really new. It is in the quiet street oposit of school but the street is noisy. We had room to the street and the guesthouse sign was blinking till midnight which was annoying. the guest do not speak english much but the lady is very helpful and tries to communicate with you with little english. be careful when comming to guest house. there was a man waiting for us to sell us floating market tour and was very pushy. this experience with him made our stay at the begining unconfortable because we did not feel very well. even after our rest, everybody was asking us if we have floating market tour booked. anyway, the room was clean, lady was cleaning our room and bathroom everyday. it is brand new so everything is tidy. be aware that it is really far from the city. It is apx. 30min walk to the city through busy bridge. They also rent bicycles for free but are in poor conditions (breaks were broken, bike seats couldn't be fitted for european...

Mother and father are in attendance all the time and are happy to help when possible. We booked our floating market tour through them and had a wonderful day on the river. They have bicycles and motorcycles to rent which is wonderful for getting out and about in the local area. Some excellent local restaurant close by and with great local food and very cheap prices. If we ever come back to Can Tho this will be the...
