I've stayed in Nam Hong Village five times and have known the family that owns Hoang Su Phi Bungalow & Dao Lodge for at least five years. They are local people from the Red Dao ethnic group. ||This is a fantastic place to stay because the property is next to a large swath of beautiful rice terraces. These particular terraces are well-known by local photographers as an excellent place to shoot sunrise. ||A few kilometers down the mountain lies another spectacular terraced area, known as Mâm xôi (The Raspberry), a perfect sunset photo opportunity. Mâm xôi Homestay is owned and operated by the same family. ||In addition to the spectacular views and photo opportunities, staying in Nam Hong will allow visitors to learn about highland culture through activities and demonstrations. The most exciting is traditional Dao Fire Dancing which can be arranged upon request. ||I did not stay in the bungalows. I slept in Dao Lodge which is the family's original house. It is a traditional single-story wooden structure typically found in the mountains of northern Vietnam. The house has been set up as a homestay by adding dormitory-style accommodations and small private rooms. Guests can order food and drinks such as coffee, tea, beer, etc. any time. ||The swimming pool between the Dao Lodge and the restaurant makes the property feel like a resort, which it is: A professionally run resort/lodge in the mountains of beautiful...
Read moreA truly wonderful place to spend the night or a couple days. Really friendly family running a sublime retreat deep in the mountains. The road in is a bit of a challenge but fun none the less- did anything good come easily after all.
They serve great food for a good price and the rooms provide not only a grand view of the terraced mountains but put you in the mists of the infinite wildlife of the area. Fireflies, frogs, insects galore. A nice walk to be had to see water buffalo, the paddies and the happy locals.
Would recommend to any who seek to relax, soak in the wonders of northern Vietnam and want to...
Read moreThis place is a must when you visit the north of vietnam. We stayed here for one night and it was heaven. A clean bungalow, incredibly welcoming owners, delicious food and spectaculat views. The whole staff was incredibly friendly and the garden and pool area is beautiful. The highlight was a herbal bath prepared for us hours in advance, with traditional herbs from the red Dao culture. It soothed all our muscle aches after two days of 20km hikes. I highly recommend the place if you are...
