Far, Far Away from Everything
(Stayed at the hotel on April 11, 2024 to April 12, 2024 and again from April 13, 2024 to April 15, 2024)
During vacation at Hanoi I stayed at Sunrise Hanoi Hotel. When I searched the hotel on search engine, I found out the hotel has many not so good reviews. Indeed, I experienced some of bad things during stayed at this hotel.
The hotel is situated at area mostly inhabited by local that far away from tourist attraction and convenience store. There are local grocery shop, but mostly closed after 10 PM. Shop like grocery shop or convenience store are really important because the hotel only give two small 350ml mineral water bottles. It might not enough for some people whose are drink water a lot.
The hotel had two lifts with contrasting size on each lift. The lift at the left had ideal size, but at the right one had too small size and maximum capacity. Not ideal during high season.
The bedroom surprisingly was very spacious for a hotel with limited area. Sadly, the interior seem already dated like it was from 2000s. The interior itself was inconsistent between each room. The bathroom was also very spacious. Large enough to have a bathtub. Hence why there were few rooms on each floor. For the bedroom I gave score 7 out of 10. While for the bathroom I gave score 6 out of 10.
There were some problems during stayed at this hotel. On the first night, I discovered the AC remote wasn't working properly and can't be easily used. Then when I step on the bathtub, I heard a strange sound like the bathtub would broke down soon. Turns out the bathtub wasn't cemented to the wall and the floor. Instead, it was probably only placed on the floor. On the second night, the room lack of sandal. On the third night, I faced two horrible experience. First, there wasn't towel. The staff seem forgot to place towel at the bathroom. Second, the sink was clogged. Thankfully, the staff responded quickly by brought it to the room after complaining the sandal and the towel. Despite being responsive, communication with the staff was pretty difficult due to most of the staffs have very limited comprehension on English.
The only good thing from this hotel was breakfast menu. Although the option was limited due to lack of employee (only around two staff are employed for managing the breakfast and one is employed for cleaning the table), the quality and taste was pretty good. Pho, while not the best one, can be considered to be consumed during breakfast. For the breakfast I gave score...
Read moreWe booked three nights here and extended one extra. The first room we were given was not what we booked. We booked a room with balcony but it had a tiny window. When we mentioned this they gave us a balcony room the next day. The bathroom in the new room was not very nice; a little shower attached to a bath with a mouldy curtain. The one in the first room was nicer. The water went cold in a minute. The room cleanliness wasn’t perfect but not the worst ever. The TV didn’t work and the phone wasn’t even plugged in. Other than that the view over the Red River made it worth staying and the staff were helpful. The location was good for us, well away from all the chaos of the old town, with its own very local charm. There are a few good places for food; a decent (although slightly pricey) seafood restaurant and a lady who sells very good banh my. Would I recommend...
Read moreWonderful hotel! Perfect location at 716 Bach Dang, easy to get around and with a beautiful view of the Red River. The room was clean, the bed was super comfortable, and all amenities were provided (complimentary tea, coffee, and bottled water). Strong Wi-Fi, smart TV, and great in-room comfort. Staff were friendly, helpful, and always ready to assist. The hotel also offers airport transfers, motorbike rental, laundry service, and flexible check-in/out times. Great value for money. Will...
