Blue Lagoon Cat Ba — Hotel in Hải Phòng

Honestly, five stars is not enough to demonstrate how amazing and magical this place is. From the second we walked down the road leading to Blue Lagoon we knew it was a special place to stay.

We were greeted by gừng, the sweetest reception dog and warmly welcomed. The cabin we stayed in was very tidy, cozy and with all the amenities we needed. It was a bit chilly at night but they provided a space heater which kept us warm. They even promptly went out and got us a new one when ours broke down.

Don’t even hesitate to book your stay here on Cat Ba. They have scooters for rent on the property, so you can quickly zip into town to eat or out to Cat Ba national park for an adventure. Don't trust the high star reviews! The staff is wonderful, the room was clean, the breakfast was nice. However, the room itself is cramped. This place is not awful, but it is WAY overpriced for what you normally get in Vietnam. This should be priced around $15 at the most. The photos you see are outdated. The grounds and rooms have not been maintained properly. The "porch" and railing were rotten ("repaired" by overlaying boards). The AC unit blew cold air, but only from one half of the unit and it was filled with dust/dirt. This was the only place I was bitten by mosquitoes during my three week trip to Vietnam. Coming from busy, crowded Hanoi, we found a lot of relaxation and peace in this wonderful accommodation. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff, offtrack location by the side of a little lake in the midst of nature. Falling asleep and waking up to the sounds of the forest was exactly what we needed and found there. Besides this, the room we had (the wooden house or chalet) is very cozy and comfortable and makes you immediately feel at home. It's clean, well organised and the bed was very nice.
