Monte Carlo Hai Phong Hotel — Hotel in Hải Phòng

We stayed for a night in a deluxe double. ||When we arrived the staff were quite abrupt on reception but the security guard was nice and helped us with our bags to our room. ||The location is probably the worst thing about the hotel. It's a taxi ride away from anything... I mean anything! ||The bathroom was fine, looked better in the pictures, but the toilet leaked. They moved us to a different room and that leaked as well but we were too tired to move again. ||The wifi was pretty hopeless and didn't work unless we were sat in reception. ||Bed and the room were fine and ac was ok. ||Breakfast was really poor. We had a choice of "bread or noodle". My wife asked for bread expecting jam, butter, but no... Just a roll. I had a pork pho which was greasy and tasteless, worse pho I'd had. My wife asked for water and she got a glass of hot water!? I asked for an English tea and got a glass of Vietnam tea which was insanely sweet. ||||Although the staff were extremely helpful and nice when I'd realised I'd left my phone in a taxi. The security guard actually drove me to where we got the taxi from to see if he was there again, he even spoke to them and made calls to find the driver. My wife stayed at the hotel and when the taxi driver answered my phone the receptionist spoke to him and sorted out a collection. ||So after that I feel a bit harsh giving them 1 star. ||But have to...

Positives - woman at the front desk was VERY helpful in escorting me to my room, setting up a breakfast in bed for me in the morning and ordering me a car from hotel to ferry port. Location is very close to airport and cost me 80k for a taxi - I think it should be about 40k and I got ripped off because I stood out as a foreigner with no other option. Negatives - room was fairly clean but bathroom was dirty and floor was wet upon my arrival... ||Overall - wouldn’t recommend staying here long term, but not bad for sleeping a night as you transfer from one place to the next. Positive: There exist friendly staff, among the other staff. Good location

Negative: Bad smell in room, bad service at reception. Woman in charge does not allow us to order plain white rice from the hotell kitchen, we have to go and get it at a resturant a few blocks away, to eat it in the hotel. They only want money, no real service. Big sounds in the night, both from the hotel and surrounding area. Generally bad value for the...
