Phong Lan 2 Hotel — Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City

Firstly, I do not recommend this hotel to any foreign visitors or those who need a clean place. I happened to book this hotel as it is near to my dinner appointment.

You can easily read many comments (mostly in Vietnamese) here about the smelly room condition. I thought they were just unlucky because there are also many positive comments abt this hotel.

However, I was wrong. The smell is really bad, strong and someone (including myself) may not be able to sleep with such smell. I can not record the smell, of course, but let's see the "floor towel" they put in the bathroom and imagine how the smell is. I thought the smell was from that "towel", but I was wrong again. The smell might be from eveywhere (pillow, bedsheet, mattress, bath towels, ...)

Lastly, the receptionist and security guard just sat there watching me climbing upstair with your heavy luggages when I checked in and...

it’s a cheap hotel, you get what you pay for. there are stains all over the wall. there’s a musty smell in the air, reminiscent of a dusty old antique store. the bathroom is pretty basic and needs some repair. the curtains have old moth larvae on them. it’s not a hotel i personally recommend. but if you need somewhere to crash and your standards aren’t high, it’s sufficient. the bed is soft enough and...

Facilities are very old. Some of them didn't work (telephone, TV,...). Air conditioner was too cold even we set it at 30C degree. I chose this hotel because it was the nearest one to my niece's university. Others are full. And I don't think I will book it again...
