Very highly recommend this homestay for so many reasons (see photos and videos of our time with Huy Trung): 1. The room is beautiful, clean, and obviously designed by someone with an architectural mind and with the needs of travelers taken into consideration. Comfortable bed. Great shower. All the stuff. 2. If you choose to eat breakfast and dinner, this is some of the best food in Bac Ha. You will get to sample a variety of tasty local dishes and have great convo with your hosts and other guests. 3. Your host, Huy Trung really cares about you having a good experience and coming up with ideas for your visit to the region. We took advantage of this in a major way and had the best adventures, complete with secret waterfall. He took us around the Bac Ha area for 2 days so we could visit some of the local Hmong, Tày, and other communities and talk with people there about life, drink tea, and get to know a little about them and their cultures. He also cares a lot about his community, and the environment, and is constantly talking with people about how to do things better. We were having such a great time that we decided to extend our stay 😊 If you decide to go to Bac Ha, which you should, this is your place and your guy.

Everything about this place is great. We are a family of 4 with two boys at 9 and 12. Room (called lovely) was great and spacious, and we ended up having dinner and breakfast with the family every day which even our vietnase food sceptic son loved. The best thing was all the trips that Huy arranged for us. They were very affordable and took us to some great hidden places of the beaten path. We went on a hike nearby where Huy drove us up the mountain and we walked down, a 10 km loop hike with some breathtaking views and some great offroading and a marked and boat trip. Just book here!

I stayed in the largest and most expensive room of 70 square meters. I have traveled all over the world and this was a beautiful room, unforgettable in my memory. Three beds, two bathrooms. The ceilings are high and the interior is beautiful. The room was so cozy that I wanted to stop sightseeing and stay in the room. The hosts were so thoughtful and drove us to the bus station. They also have a cute dog named Petit. Petit is a very cute dog, but he is educated and does not come to guests' rooms.

Staying with Huy Trung and his family was a true highlight in our 3.5 week stay in Vietnam. Huy Trung is a lovely host and a really great guy who not only wants his guests to experience the very best of his local region but also works hard to put back into his area - supporting poorer families , helping design infrastructure to improve villages and the town and just general little kindnesses means you feel genuinely welcome when you visit the local ethnic villages. We did the one day Bac Ha village tour on a Friday and went to the local buffalo market, a Hmong village market and visited three villages (different ethnic tribes) dropping things off before a most wonderful and delicious lunch at Forest Homestay. This family made us so incredibly welcome - such a warm and authentic experience despite having very little English - we ended up staying longer and had a delightful 2 hours with these people and their gorgeous baby boy Za Minh . This is a memory that will live in my heart forever . |We also did a great day hike with the effervescent Dou , went to Saturday night markets and enjoyed the fabulous Sunday markets before all the tourists from Sapa turned up. This is an area where local people are dressed in traditional clothes as part of their everyday lives and it is so interesting to see this culture preserved. |Bac Ha is super friendly and Hue Trung Homestay is a must. Make sure you eat with the family as the food is superb and like nothing you will get in restaurants. |Many thanks...

We recent stayed overnight at Huy Trung Homestay to visit the Bac Ha weekend markets. The homestay was in a nice quiet hill on the town fringe. Rooms were clean and spacious and you could enjoy the all-around view from the roof top glass bottom deck. Huy and his family were most hospitable as we joined the family for dinner and breakfast. Huy is multi-talented and speaks english. He is a civil engineer, house architectural designer, excellent photographer, drone videographer and also a tour guide around the region. He has also helped build signages to promote the nearby villages around Bac Ha. If we had stayed longer we would also have had him take us on a tour of the area as his local knowledge was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed the warm hospitality and would recommend Huy Trung homestay to anyone passing through. We recommend staying longer in Bac Ha as most only use it for day trips to weekend markets. The surrounding countryside, rice terraces and ethnic villages are...
