We chose this hotel as we were exploring the area and it looked like a place to relax after a long day.|On arrival we were very pleased, hotel and grounds were lovely, reception staff very friendly and our room was very luxurious. |We went to the restaurant after 7pm, there was only 1 other couple dining so very quiet.|The waiter, while very pleasant, had very little English and this took some time ordering.|We ordered 1 soup and a 1 green salad for our starters. My husband then chose a salt chicken main with a rice accompaniment and I ordered crispy tofu with buttered corn and some noodles. Not too many dishes and as the restaurant was quiet we did not foresee any issues.|The waiter took our order eventually but returned to our table 10mins later and said we had ordered too much! We were puzzled by this but opted to leave out the noodles. After a lengthy wait he returned with a huge plate of buttered sweetcorn. No sign of our starters. After another lengthy wait he appeared with a salad, not the one I ordered but we ate it anyway. Again no starters. Yet another lengthy wait and he returned to tell me there was no tofu. So at this point, after a long day and while looking forward to a lovely relaxing meal I was told there was no main course for me, just as well I had a huge plate of corn to keep me going. Eventually he reappeared with my husbands rice but no main to accompany this. At this point we were both a little frustrated and extremely hungry. Finally my husband was presented with his main meal. So at this point none of us had received starters, I had no main course, drinks were not readily available as the waiter kept disappearing, not the relaxing meal we had envisaged.|On the way to our room the waiter was at reception and asked us how our food was, we explained how unsatisfied we were and he said he would pass this on.|Breakfast seemed a bit more organised and at least we had a selection of food available. While eating staff presented us with the soup and tofu we missed out on the previous night! We politely refused these items. Obviously our comments had been noted about our disappointment the previous night.|This is a lovely hotel in a fab location but they really do need to address their restaurant issues. If they are unable to cope with 4 diners then that is unacceptable and certainly does nothing to enhance the reputation of a...
Read moreEvery morning and evening, you hear the sounds of your neighbors showering. Whenever someone upstairs uses water, the drain pipes echo loudly through the walls. The elevator makes noise every morning, and since the building is extremely poorly insulated, you can only hope that other guests stay quiet.
The smoking area was right below my room, and because the building isn’t fully enclosed, cigarette smoke drifted straight in. The shower drain was too high, preventing water from properly flowing away, so the entire bathroom flooded. To make matters worse, the drain was clogged. By the second day, the toilet stopped flushing.
The curtains didn’t fully close, and combined with a balcony light that couldn’t be turned off, it made sleeping difficult. The air conditioning was positioned in the most uncomfortable way possible, constantly blasting cold air directly onto my head. Unfortunately, the location wasn’t very central either, and throughout the day, I could hear construction work from a nearby hotel being built.
Breakfast had plenty of options, but most of the food was fried and cold. A smaller selection of higher-quality, fresh items would have been much better.
They advertise a rate of 1.8 million VND per night, which is absolutely not worth it. Luckily, we only paid 900k VND per night, but even at that price, it didn’t feel like a great deal.
Of course, there were some positives. The hotel looked beautiful, making it great for photos. The bed was comfortable, and the staff...
Read moreWe arrived in the evening at Indochine Boutique Hotel and were warmly greeted by the night-shift front desk staff. We had accidentally booked the wrong room, but the staff were incredibly accommodating and helped us upgrade to a larger room with both a queen and a double bed. The upgrade fee was reasonable, around 50 AUD. The room itself was impressive—spacious, spotless, and equipped with everything we needed, including a TV with Netflix and YouTube, efficient air conditioning, a modern bathroom with a great shower, and a window overlooking the pool. Since it was late, we decided to dine at the hotel restaurant, which offers traditional Vietnamese cuisine. The food was tasty and fairly priced. After dinner, we enjoyed the outdoor pool, which was a good size with plenty of lounge chairs. Having such an amenity at this price point was a pleasant surprise. The hotel staff were also very helpful in guiding us around Ninh Binh, providing recommendations for must-visit spots. On our last day, we requested a late check-out, as our train wasn’t until 4:15 PM. For a reasonable fee of 300,000 VND, we were able to stay comfortably. Overall, I highly recommend Indochine Boutique Hotel and would definitely...
