Spa and wellness centre is closed ( one of the reasons we booked was the spa )|Upon arrival after a 10 hour bus journey from Ho Chi Minh City we were exited to relax and unwind in the spa after a week in the hectic yet wonderful city we chose this “spa resort “ after arriving and checking in we dropped our bags of in the room which was not the worst room I’ve stayed in to their credit but by no stretch of imagination a 4* room to English standards was sub standard to most premier inns / travel lodges in the uk. After walking around the hotels grounds only seeing a security guard who didn’t understand what we were saying we went back to the desk to ask where the spa was and to our delight it was “temporarily closed for repairs “ I don’t believe this was the case as I had a look through the windows and it seemed more abandoned than anything with old towels in there covered in cob webs and dust with all pools drained and no sign of any repairs. My girlfriend and I are usually quite understanding but no where on the website did it say it was closed which was the main pull factor of our stay . They then kindly upgraded our room to a vip sweet which was the room next to ours and the only real difference was a double bed instead of 2 singles nonetheless this was a nice gesture which they didn’t need to do.||Room service not available ( phone in room was broke )|The same night we got upgraded at around 8pm my girlfriend and I were extremely hungry due to our long day of travelling so set off to get food only to leave our room and it appear to be a ghost town with the main restaurant closed ( the pool bar and beach bar are also “temporarily closed for repairs “ so we went back to the room to see if room service was available when I picked up the phone there was extremely loud fussing for a minute or so and someone finally picked up I asked if room service was available and it was followed by a very quite and fuzzy no. ||Abandoned restaurant and bars |(Pool bar and beach bar )|As mentioned above the pool bar and restaurant are apparently temporarily closed but it is certainly permanent with old abandoned fish tanks filled with stagnant water and broken lights.||Awful breakfast offering gone off toast and a few peices of fruit , |The next morning my girlfriend and I woke up borderline starving as a result of the lack of food the night before so we wondered down across the beach to the breakfast buffet at around 8:45 am which if I must say was comical with 2 peices of water melon cold instant coffee and toast and Jam ( the toaster didn’t work ) we bit our tounges and left and thought we’d wait till lunch .||When we arrived back to the restaurant at lunch we were thrown a menu to which no word of a life 60% of it was unavailable, |Staff simply don’t care and the language barrier makes it incredibly difficult to ask for solutions. Yes this is very western of me to expect there to a standard level of English which to my own knowledge is quite stubborn of me although at a supposed 4* luxury resort I do on the other hand expect basic communication which was simply not present . My girlfriend then chose to go with spaghetti bolognaise and an ice cream for dessert of which I can only describe the sauce being made from tomato ketchup ! I understand this is also due to local ingredients and availability but once again is no where near good enough for a 4* rating to add to my partner’s already disappointment she was halfway through eating her ice cream when she said this taste very odd and read the packet was 5 months out of date . I know I sound like a broken record but the basics of the hospitality industry are not being met even to a 2* standard.| |Whole place is worn down and out dated |Bathtub broke and wouldn’t drain with rust all over the tub ||Most of the food on the menu was not available |My girlfriend was served out of date ice cream on one occasion ||Past 8 o’clock feels like a ghost town |Do not feel welcome here !||Apart from the spectacular beach front this place offers nothing else and would heavily advise avoiding staying here , over the course of the past 3 months my girlfriend and I have been backpacking south east Asia and have stayed in some 1-2 star hostels which have been more pleasant than our stay here , I’m not usually one to be negative Hense I’ve never left a review prior to this but quite frankly it is unacceptable and a borderline scam and hope this review is read by anyone that is looking to stay here in the future to save people the...
Read moreMy recent stay at GM Doc Let Resort offered a contrasting experience, with a truly stunning beach overshadowed by significant issues in service and maintenance, particularly within the restaurant. The undeniable highlight of this resort is its beautiful, transparent beach. The pristine sands and clear waters provide an idyllic setting for relaxation and enjoyment, truly living up to the pictures. However, the positive experience largely ended there. The restaurant services were deeply disappointing. The manager, a Russian individual named Bogdan, displayed an arrogant demeanor that detracted significantly from the lunch experience. Furthermore, the food quality was abysmal. My steak was served raw and proved extremely hard to chew, making it virtually inedible. Adding to the culinary woes, a pasta dish was served with the spaghetti still frozen, rendering it completely unappetizing. To compound the issue, there was a shocking lack of basic forks or knives, making it impossible to even attempt to eat the poorly prepared meal. While the room itself was acceptable, it suffered from weak water pressure in the shower, which was frustrating. Generally, the resort appears to suffer from poor maintenance, with signs of wear and tear evident in various areas. In summary, while GM Doc Let Resort boasts a fantastic beach that is perfect for a getaway, the issues with arrogant service, particularly from the restaurant manager Bogdan, the truly awful and inedible food (including raw steak and frozen pasta), and the overall lack of maintenance significantly detract from the overall guest experience. Improvements in these areas are desperately needed to match the beauty of its natural...
