After Jun House didn't honour my Booking.com reservation, I came here to Palace Hotel. They are far superior in all aspects and they are pet friendly too. I was allocated a balcony, sea view room for 500k VND on an upper level floor (accessible by an elevator). The air-conditioned room was a little better than ok, but not great. Though very spacious and thus good enough for me to stay 3 nights. The room was quite well furnished (2x couches with a coffee table, a desk with chair, a wardrobe, and a bedside table) and had a refrigerator (medium size that worked well) and a flatscreen TV (that didn't work at all). The balcony was modest and had a small, stone bench seat. The room also had a private bathroom with a shower in bathtub set-up, toilet and wash basin with vanity mirror. The hot water was inadequate on the first night (barely warm even after getting reception to fix the hot water supply). However, it worked well on my remaining nights. The shower head also broke on the first night, but was replaced immediately. Both the room and the bathroom were very clean. There was also complimentary water included but only provided in refillable glass bottles. During my stay I did not experience any issues with noise disturbances, but the blinds don't do a very adequate job in keeping the room dark. WiFi is free and available throughout the hotel with a good, strong and constant signal. The reception staff don't really speak any English but I found it easy to communicate via a translation app....but they were always friendly. (The manager does speak pretty good English but he's not always there). The Palace Hotel does have car parking out the front (limited and not covered), whereas motorbikes can park inside the hotel's spacious lobby, but you have to ride up a large ramp and manoeuvre a bit to get it inside. Nearby, there are many cafes but not many restaurants. A few can be found on the street, but more are scattered around all within a 10-15 minute walk. A Co-operative Mart (with Jollibee) and a WinMart are very nearby (a larger WinMart is about 10 minutes walk away). The wharf with the ferries to Phu Quoc Island are relatively close and many ticketing offices and agents are very close (ie. Super dong and Phu Quoc Express). Overall, the Palace Hotel was ok/good and worthwhile and comfortable enough for...
