My very first interaction with the receptionist hasn't been positive. To begin with, I arrived without a booking. I try not to use booking websites but rather pay the hotels directly, so that they not be charged fees by these booking platforms. Booking.com was showing that there were 250k, 270k and 300k rooms available. The sign outside also stated that the cheapest room was 250k. So, I walked in and requested to have a room for 3 nights. The receptionist replied that they had 270k and 300k rooms. I replied that Booking.com showed that a 250k room was available, right now and for the 3 nights I wanted. Only when I showed her the hotel's page open on the Booking.com app on my phone did she finally accept to give me the 250k room. I don't know if it was her personal initiative to keep the difference of 20k for each night for herself, or if it's the policy of this hotel's management to tell guests that the cheapest room isn't available, but either way this isn't right. As soon as I entered the room, I was struck by a strong smell of cigarette smoke. It was overwhelming. Luckily, I checked in not in the evening but at about 2 pm: I left the window wide open and went out for the rest of the day. I don't understand why the housekeeper couldn't have done it, though. It's as if they wanted to keep as much of that disgusting smell as possible for the guest to smell when they check in. On my last full day, I stepped out in the morning. When I came back at midday, there was no power in my room. And it wasn't a power failure: they cut the power supply to my room on purpose! How courteous of you! What happened is, I alerted the housekeeper, who happened to be on the same floor. She then called the receptionist, and the power was switched back on immediately. So, if they see a guest walk out, they stop the power supply to the room. And what if I had left something in the fridge or a gadget to charge? In the bathroom, water drained poorly: after showering it always took a while to drain. This, because the drain was clogged with hair. It was like that when I checked in: they don't clean the drain between customers. The fan was dusty. I never dared to switch it on, not wanting that dust to disperse. There was dust on the bedrest. Noise from the outside is a big issue. At 5.30 or 6 a.m. there is a radio broadcast playing through state loudspeakers in the street. And then another broadcast by the same presenters at 5.30 pm. And in evening, you can hear singing from the karaoke around the corner. On Monday they went on until 10 pm, then reduced the volume at 10 p.m., but I could still hear them, trying to fall asleep. On my last night, I was woken up at 4.30 a.m. by the guest next door, who was smoking (the cigarette smoke entered my room) and listening to something on...
