We generally avoid this chain as its hotels are older and more traditional. The rooms itself was a decent size, with comfortable bedding and clean facilities.
But there were real let downs for us that meant we just couldn’t rate a high as it’s capable of. Firstly the wifi was almost non existent in the room and continuously dropped out. At the pool there was simply no wifi available .
The air conditioner….where to start. The temperature during our stay was over 40 degrees and the air con turned off automatically after an hour. We can only assume the hotel had set this as we tried every button to remove this setting. This meant very little sleep as we were constant woken by being too hot.
It’s was a busy weekend with the holiday and the hotel was fully booked. Given the weather was so hot a pool was important to us. The pool was on the top floor and looked like it hadn’t seen any maintenance since being installed many, many years ago. Spa didn’t work, plastic was worn, no pool towels available, no cushions for the seating. In general the area looks like it had been abandoned for many years.
Breakfast on the other hand was amazing. A full buffet with a huge selection of items. This was the standout for this hotel, along with the great service from one of the lovely girls at reception who went out of her way to make us...
Read moreWe walked into this hotel and straight away we felt the staff looking down on us, perhaps because we were wearing shorts, perhaps because we're foreigners. We asked if they had a bar or restaurant where we could spend some time before our flight out of Vinh several hours later, and if we could leave our luggage somewhere safe. The man at reception didn't even take a minute to consider our requests, we were told in no uncertain terms that they "cannot provide this service". We have been in Vietnam for two weeks and this was the first place we were treated rudely, we cannot believe we were turned away when we were willing to spend money on luggage storage, drinks and food. This was a very uncomfortable experience being judged so harshly for no apparent reason. If you're not Asian and wearing a suit, don't...
Read moreI was reluctant to stay here due to the negative reviews the place had received, but when my first choice hotel was full, I decided to give this place a try as it was in the area that I needed to be in. And boy and I glad that I ended up here! The room was comfortable (it even had heating, which enabled me to sleep comfortably during the very cold winter nights during my stay); the staff was extremely kind and helpful (other reviewers complained about them, but sometimes people treat you the way you treat them); the breakfast was surprisingly good; and it was really good value for money. Granted, the hotel is not perfect. It's a little bit worn from age, but so am I. Ha. Anyway, I'm glad I stayed there - and I would certainly stay there again on my next...
