The place is very beautiful. It gets one point for that. The staff are helpful, even though they don't speak English. It gets another point for that. I'm afraid that's all it gets.
First thing was the name does not match. Took a while to find. Called to be sure. There is no reception or lobby!! Hence no one to organise tours for you, check in and out is via a pix taken on the guy's mobile. It's situated a good ten kilometres away from town. There is no Grab. One feels like a prisoner in paradise.
To add to the feeling, there is no breakfast and one small cafe nearby. Which took a while to find along a long unfinished path with unfinished buildings, close to a 200m walk from our room! There is no food delivery either. So either eat there or ... Find your way to the nearest eatery is literally a mile away - uphill. Please note that hotel even charges you for the bottles of water in room! Unlike 99 percent of hotels that provide the water for free. The bigger sin is not informing us of this upon arrival.
The food at the nearby Bon Bon Cafe is pretty good, have done a separate review, and for some reason, Grab works there, though there's only a handful of Grab drivers in Bao Loc. When we tried, none came after an hour. So best of luck leaving paradise. Same thing for food delivery. Tried on second night, found a place with limited delivery options. After waiting 90 minutes, no sound, picture or food.
Days before coming to the hotel, I did email them, asking if they ran any tours. No answer. No surprise, now that we see the place. Individual bungalows set amidst lovely greenery chocful of place settings and a stream. Obviously designed for Instagram. There's a lot of wooden and stone steps everywhere, so if you are not ambulatory or have knee issues, give this place a miss, or feel even more like a prisoner in paradise.
The bungalow itself was very lovely, kinda a dream studio apartment with a balcony and a kickass view. Noticed however, no instructions in any language, so had to hunt down someone for the WiFi password and directions to the cafe. On the first night, the water got cut off. On the second morning, the hot water! Teething problems for a place that is still under development.
I note there is an electric stove in the room. So advice for anyone coming here. Bring your own vehicle. Bring your own food. If you just want a place to go nowhere and do nothing, this is the place for you.
Addendum. We nearly decided to check out early. Guess the hotel sensed we were unhappy with the cut off water and hot water, and upgraded us to their best room. I think it's their only finished villa. Massive place with two bedrooms, a living room and kitchen, and a huge patio. Way too big for two, ideal for two families worth, or as a corporate retreat. Additional benefit is that you can walk along the main road to get to Bon Bon, no need to navigate flights of steps. For this, they claw back one more star.
As beautiful and lavish as the villas are, there are a few design flaws. The biggest is the rooms, bedroom and living, are all glass walls. The next units are barely two metres away. When built, you'll be looking into the bedroom of the next unit! There's a pix of that. In between are the stairs, so anyone walking past, close enough to touch your window, well, I'm sure you don't want to give them an eyeful. Only the front facing glass walls have great views of the valley, rather than great views of what your neighbours are up to.
So even if you are taking a villa, be beware of the limitations. I'm sure they'll be better in a year or two.
BTW, all the high ratings this place gets? You get a free breakfast at the nearby Bon Bon if you rate them. Consider this review...
