From the minute we met our wonderful guide Nhi at the ferry port and she whisked us off to the delightful rustic homestay, we knew we were going to thoroughly enjoy our 2 night stay in the Mekong Delta. ||We were the first couple to sleep in the brand new double bungalow and really appreciated the mosquito canopy over the large, comfortable bed, the rocking chairs and hammock on the spacious private verandah overlooking the ||water hyacinths, private bathroom/shower room and plenty of fans to keep us cool and refreshed.||The host family were welcoming and cooked us lovely meals throughout stay and their little toddler is an absolute delight. ||Loved relaxing on the verandah late at night listening to birdsong and insects chirping and being woken up early morning by the resident roosters!||Nhi went out of her way to make us enjoy every minute of our stay. She took us on fabulous bike rides around the island where we stopped off at various homes, watching them make handicrafts out of water hyacinth leaves, helped to make jack fruit cake, picked fruit, vegetables and herbs for our meals, went on a sampan boat ride on the Mekong, saw how rice pancakes, coconut candy and popping rice are made as well as a rowing boat on a tributary canal, etc. She is such an asset to the host family and is passionate about her life as a country girl. ||Highly recommend staying here if you want an authentic slice of life on the...
Read moreWhen my itinerary mentioned that I would be greeted with a smile - it ended up being the brightest smile of Ms Nhi - a bubbly bright and cheerful host. This stay with a family in vietnam was the highlight of our trip - we had a wonderful adventure right from the time we sat in the boat to go to the home till we were bid goodbye. The stay was simple with a wonderful family who were so warm with us. They had a beautiful orchard from which my kids plucked some wonderful juicy rambutans. We cycled all over the little quaint village, went to an artisan and Learnt to make bracelets and rings with straw, learnt to make jackfruit leaf wrapped pancakes with a delicious coconut sauce, went to an ancient home and tasted mangostein fresh from the tree, went for a quiet boat ride - each experience more enriching than the other. And all through with Nhi giving us stories of her childhood and making us have a great time. We did so much and I can’t believe we stayed there just for a night - a big thank you to the hosts who welcomed us in their beautiful home and allowed us to experience peaceful...
Read moreWonderful people, very welcoming. They offer great activities, free bikes and amazing food. I totally love this place and the nice family living there. They are really good hosts and great cooks. The rooms are cozy and the beds are really comfortable. They have big mosquito nets to guarantee a good sleep, but better bring some earplugs, as the birds, crickets and frogs as well as their chickens can sometimes produce some noise. But this also creates a great atmosphere and a perfect jungle feeling. I recommend to book one of the tours (look in the website), I joined a group and went fishing and it was an amazing experience. The family doesn't speak English but still conversation is always possible somehow. Also a tour guide comes to the Mekong Rustic every day and can help you whenever you have questions. It was absolutely worth the stay, even after 4 days I didn't get bored and it was a great adventure for me to see the local culture. Thanks...
