A Unique and Fabulous Experience
What a wonderful experience. It was exactly what we were looking for. Obviously this is not a 5 star resort, and the room is going to be rustic. But what they don’t have in creature comfort, they more than make up for with genuine hospitality, excellent meals and service, and a once-in-a-lifetime experience living with the local Hmong people.
Let’s start with the room. We got bungalow #3, it’s got a patio with a great view. It’s next to bungalow #4 which has the same view and layout. We sat there and had both lunches, so amazing. You have a private bath, with flushing toilet and plenty of hot water for showers. The bed was very comfortable, and sheets were clean. No air cond of course, but the fan was more than adequate. There is wifi. It wasn’t fast, but fast enough for me to do my work (see picture). I had a little desk and chair, and was able to put both my laptop and a portable monitor! The cabin is rustic, and there will be bugs in the room at night, but the bed has a mosquito net, so you’ll sleep soundly. One of the pictures on the website had a caption saying “private kitchen”, but there wasn’t one, which was not a concern for us.
Your host and hostess and their family will WOW you. First, they spoke excellent English. Communicating with them in English will be no problem. Our hostess helped us book transportation from Sapa to the homestay, helped us book local tours (we went to the circular rice field, the mam soi), and transportation onward to our next destination. Prices were reasonable, and everything was reliable. The highlight for me was having dinner with the family. Breakfast is included with our booking but lunch and dinners were not. For a downright reasonable price, they fed you like crazy (see picture). The home-cooked meal was delicious, because it’s all sourced locally. They treated us to house-made rice wine. Splendid! I think you’ll find dinner with the family and conversing with them will also be a memorable part of your trip to Mu Cang Chai. One more thing to add about their hospitality. They have a filtered water dispenser, so you can get both cold and hot drinking water. We didn’t even have that at our next destination which was a 5-star resort.
So, whether Mu Cang Chai is your destination, or you’re passing through, definitely plan on staying a couple...
Read moreWe recently had the pleasure of staying at "Hello Mu Cang Chai Travel - Homestay," and it was an unforgettable experience! A huge thank you to Miss Ly for her warm and hospitable welcome. She truly made us feel at home from the moment we arrived.
The motorbike tour was an exhilarating adventure, taking us through some of the most breathtaking landscapes I have ever seen. Riding through the terraced rice fields and the scenic mountain roads was a dream come true.
The H'mong cultural experience was deeply enriching. We had the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the local culture, learning about their traditions and way of life. It was a unique experience that gave us a profound appreciation for the H'mong people and their heritage.
The trekking tour was another highlight of our stay. The trails were well-chosen, offering stunning views and a great physical challenge. It was refreshing to explore the less touristy areas, away from the usual crowded spots.
We spent four fantastic nights at the homestay, enjoying the tranquility and beauty of the surroundings. The accommodations were comfortable and cozy, providing a perfect retreat after our daily adventures.

Read moreA little jewel in the heart of an incredible view. We stayed there for one night and were not disappointed. The accommodation was warm and comfortable, with a breathtaking view of the mountains and rice paddies. We were welcomed by the family, who were more than warm and open to sharing. We ate very well there (dinner and breakfast) and also had the pleasure of sampling the local alcohol with the family.
Although we didn't do it because we had our guide, the hosts also offer hikes to discover the surrounding area. The place is worth the detour. Thank you for your welcome and your...
