It’s so disappointing the sub treatment that they give to local customers at times.
I’ve been to many hotels, including other protea hotel branches in Zambia & never been treated with such contempt.
Can you imagine that these guys had the audacity to serve us leftovers despite us making a reservation and full payment for a buffet prior.
We hoped to have a family dinner of about 15 people at 7PM. At 8AM in the morning we made a reservation with the restaurant.
We asked if they had a dinner buffet option available but they said they had a limited number of in-house guests as such they couldn’t offer a buffet.
We were then told if we wanted a buffet we would need to pay for a minimum of 20 people… despite us only being 15 we paid the full amount of 20 people taking on the extra cost and made the reservation at 8AM.
I don’t know what went wrong between then and the time we showed up, all I know is we waited 1 hour 30 minutes past 7PM before any of the people at our table could get any food, and less than 5 people at our table were served before they told us they ran out of food.
And those 5 complained because they could visibly see staff getting chunks off other peoples plates and throwing it back into the serving pan so when being served.
We initially quietly called the manager over to share our grievances, only for him to treat us like second class citizens. We had to spend another 2 hours + trying to get a refund so we could another place to get a meal....
Read moreWe stayed here recently and felt like it was a little refuge amongst the dust and bumps in all the roads under construction in Chingola . We found the staff to all be warm and welcoming and very attentive . |The poolside patio and restaurant are a lovely oasis during the dry season. We were delighted by the food served. |Our room had local “brownish” water coming out but what it wasn’t surprising , being in the copper belt . Also all 3 of the rooms had broken safes , so be prepared to carry your passports etc. |The rooms were clean and bug free. |Ours looked out on the the nicely groomed green lawn beside the pool . |Note -hair conditioner is not the norm in African hotels so bring your own. |We also held an all day conference using their facilities and were very pleased with how well executed it was . The serving of tea , lunch , and dinner for 100 attendees went off without a hitch and everyone enjoyed the food and service very much. Would definitely stay...
Read moreHorrible experience. It was the only hotel in the area that did not have power. They gave a slight discount on the promise that power would come back in 2 hours. However, it never came throughout the entire stay. Food was limited due to this, no hot water, no electricity, no AC. I am due for a meeting with no electronics because I was stupid enough to pay a premium for this service. Luckily, when you raise a complaint, the General Manager was right there to tell you "I can't do anything because it's in the system". I recommend all hotels to get the same system, to avoid compensating your guests when you want to charge them unreasonable prices without providing basic human needs.
Would highly recommend any other hotel...
