My sister and I just spent 4 nights at the Marula Lodge. We did 5 safari drives and 1 safari walk. We also did a village walk and visited a local school. This was a very humbling experience that left a stamp on my heart. Our guide for the safaris, was Moses and he was fantastic. He was so knowledgeable and fun to experience all the African wildlife with. The lodge itself is run very well. We were greeted by Jennie upon our arrival and made to feel welcome and included. We stayed in a comfortable room as well as a Very comfortable room. We also saw the tents. The chalets were perfect. Some had been renovated and they were really nice. When we stayed it was very hot but the fans did a pretty good job of keeping us cool. The tents looked great, if you are happy to stay in a tent. I actually used the toilets/shower provided to them and they were very nice. We had elephants and hippos walk right through the camp. I could not stress how safe we felt the entire time we were there. The food was yummy too. They provide nutritious meals at the perfect time and the service was amazing. You can also order a la carte but we never did. We saw others who had and the food looked really good. I have not stayed at any other lodges but spoke to many who had and we all agree that the Marula Lodge is by far the best value for money. We would stay again in...
Read moreMy stay at Marula Lodge was my favorite, most memorable experience in three weeks in Zambia!
The chalets are charming, and the tents are also comfortable. (I stayed two nights in a chalet and one in a tent.)
The owner and all the staff are incredibly kind and accommodating -- going out of their way to ensure a relaxing, trouble-free stay. They organized two game-drives for me in South Luangwa National Park where I saw all the wildlife I could hope to see, accompanied by knowledgeable guides.
But a stay at Marula Lodge – even without a game-drive – is already a safari experience in itself as monkeys, elephants, hippos, baboons, and bushbucks (among other wildlife) regularly pass through the grounds of the lodge. I also enjoyed lounging by the river observing the crocodiles and hippos.
The chef prepared delicious food, always cooked to perfection. There’s also a nice pool (that unfortunately, I didn’t make use of).
Marula Lodge is competitively priced, making it the most affordable option just outside the park gates.
It pained me to leave so soon, but hopefully I’ll have a chance to stay again in the...
Read moreIt was an awesome experience. It is very pocket friendly place. Very helpful staff. We have asked for veg food, and we even got Indian veg. Rooms are clean and well ventilated. We stayed at a ' comfortable room', but these once are not very good if you are looking for privacy. Jenny and her family are very attentive towards each and every guest. We saw 2 hippos, 3-4 impalas and lots of baboons and monkey in the lodge garden. On our last day, we saw 4 lioness just near the lodge compound.
The park fees is 25$ per person per day.We took 6 game drives in three days. Even in the month of April, we saw a lot of animals in park. Lots of impalas, Pukus, elephants, Giraffes, zebras, wort hogs, buffalos, crocodiles, hippos. We even saw wild dogs, a haina, leopards, lions and cubs. We could also spot a few types of lizards, different types of mongus and loooooots of birds.
We are looking forward to...
