We traveled to Siavonga and decided to book our stay at Manchichi Bay Lodge starting January 2,2024.. check out January 3, 2024.
Before leaving from Lusaka we called the lodge and requested for an early check in and we were promised an early check in, When we got there the rooms werenât ready! We were checked in even couple of hours later than the standard check in time as the rooms werenât cleaned and prepared by the staff!
We waited for 4 hours to be checked in to our rooms and no complimentary breakfast or even a bottle of water was offered!
In one of the rooms the air conditioning wasnât workingâŚ
No cold or hot water was running from the tapsâŚ. after complaining for hours we were provided with a bucket of water to flush the toilet and were promised that the problem will be sorted out first thing in the morning. When we checked out the next day, still there wasnât any water in the taps!
Pool was dirty!
Bed linen and towels were shabby and torn!
When we were checking out, we tried to draw the attention of the management team towards the short comings and expected at least some apologies or maybe a discount for the inconvenience we had experienced during our stay⌠the manager wasnât around., accountant was the overall Boss.. who was very arrogant and rude.. he was just laughing and told us that itâs the usual practice at the place and guests can suffer a bit at times!!! He refused to share the contact details of the manager and the owners and pointed to the suggestion box!
Way to harbour was equally full of litter and broken glass bottles!
The access road to the property is full of pot holes..
Manchichi Bay Lodge is a property with a great potential which needs financial injection and a team of professionals to run it! Current management is a failure!
We arenât going back and do not recommend this place to anyone..đ˘.. if the owners of the place are interested to continue running this place, they should take a note of the shortcomings and change...

Read moreThe location is profound, nice and serene. A good 360 view of Lake Kariba activities.
Problem is the breakfast in the morning is either not there or not enough. The Chef was good though, I loved my sunny side ups.
My hot shower wasn't working and despite several requests to fix nothing was done. Had to shower in another room! Not good walking around wrapped in a towel.
The bar had only basic stock.
If the Peacock is in a good mood it will give you a colourfull feathery display and ofcourse serves as morning alarm me thinks.
The waiters, friendly but need more training and to understand about the food available (learned later most are students) All in all Siavonga with the Kariba is a place worth visiting.
I am planning another trip with my friends from Kenya.. Big mob so...
