This is a lovely local farmers market within the Barossa Valley. I wished to visit for some time, but waking up early on Saturday morning is not easily achievable for my lazy children.
I drove a car from Adelaide to visit this market last Saturday. I arrived at 11:00 am, just 30 minutes from closing time.
There were two lovely acoustic musicians called G&D Duo who performed music during that morning. Their music was, of course, old school ones, but they were good and the atmosphere was really relaxing.
Luckily, most of the stalls were still opened when I arrived. It was not too big, with 30+ small local stalls, maybe. They were mainly selling local produces or homemade products.
To support local people, I tried the coffee and chocolates from the Espresso Bar, which were good.
I tried a few fudge samples from the Barossa Valley Gourmet Fudge stall. They were not too sweet and very delicious, so I purchased a 5 pieces pack as desserts after dinner.
I also tried the hot Japanese gyoza dumplings from MAnMA Barossa Kitchen, and it was so delicious. π After finishing eating, I purchased a frozen pack with 25 pieces Gyoza pork dumplings for my cooking at home. The owner was a Janpanese mum, and she told me I could buy her homemade Gyoza from a few Tony & Marks in Adelaide city π.
I stayed there until 11:30 am, and the market closed the doors afterwards. Overall, this was a very enjoyable visit.
There were plenty of car park spaces and toilets located at the back of the venue. It was worth a visit if you were visiting Barossa Valley on Saturday (opens...
Β Β Β Read moreSmall market but they pack a punch with lots of locally made produce. Love the Mehls sourdough crumpets and Eleni pastries. Barossa Gold honey is great, the Birdwood Vension chorizos are to die for. Collett and Miels interesting sauces and chutneys I can barely walk past and Wechers buckets of pickles for $7 are a staple in my fridge. Inside the country meats are a winner. Gumshire smoked bacon is divine and the fellas at Wira Lea meats are so helpful and the ribs I got there recently were very meaty and fresh. The lady with the pasties, I want that dough recipe! So well priced I always grab a few cold ones to take home for lunch. Lots of seedlings and fresh fruit outside too. Apricots when in season taste so much better than anything you can buy in supermarket.
Only downfall is the usually long wait for a coffee so just be prepared. The bacon and egg sandwiches are a bit expensive at twelve bucks but their purchase supports different local organisations. Love that there is a different musician every week and lots of tables to sit outside in the sun. Great country market atmosphere and love coming most weekends so still gets five stars. Can sign up to be a member which gives you a discount at stalls. Must come early as the market is busy and stalls...
