Β Β Β Read moreLake Leschenaultia is a very pleasant alternative for campers. Only just over an hour out of Perth, it is a man-made lake constructed in 1897. It supplied water to steam trains for almost 50 years and since 1949 it has been used as a recreation area where many locals learned to swim. There were no public swimming pools available before the 1960s.
Entry fee is free, but costs apply for camping and canoe hire. Swimming is popular, with a lovely beach and a pontoon to rest on after a hard swim! Bush walking and cycling trails abound and bird watching, flower spotting and other natural pursuits are all at your offering.
The cafeteria and toilets makes it easy camping and there are barbecues, picnic areas, grassed areas and a camp ground with camp kitchen.
Since early in 2007, Lake Leschenaultia has been the venue for the monthly local market.
