Hughes Takeaway — Local services in District of Woden Valley

Very poor customer service and overprice , went there for lunch the lady serving at the counter was extremely rude. i ordered dim sims and a chicken corn roll .. when the order was made they had forgotten the chicken corn roll. and simply said well you haven't been charged for it , and i asked for chicken salt they only used normal salt , there oil needed changing in the deep fryer , $17 for 5 dim sims and a drink .. and when i said i didn't want garlic dim sims that were sitting in the hot bay i wanted the meat ones the lady got cranky and said well you will have to wait then! there was another customer that was in there long before me they had forgotten about his order it was sitting in the hot bay for ages till someone clicked on and then gave it to him by this stage many other customers had been served. dont usually go out off my way to right a bad review off places , i haven't been here for about 5 years , the previous time was just as bad but thought every were deserves a second chance , but it seems to have only gotten worse. save your money...

DO NOT RECOMMEND.... This was our go-to local takeaway, , previous owners made the best pizza in Woden area.

New ownership and food quality has deteriorated significantly Initially had a bad experience with a fish and chip order, inedible due to the amount of salt on the meal, but gave the new owners the benefit of the doubt and continued to frequent, convenience over quality, until an issue with a family dinner order. I pre-placed the order at 430pm, giving 2 hours notice for our family meal order, 630pm collection. Newborn baby in the house, needed to feed the masses without too much effort. Arrived at 630, pizzas ready and garlic bread being wrapped. Should have checked before leaving, all pizzas burnt outside and raw in the middle. Garlic bread still frozen and butter solid. Returned to takeaway to get replacements, having 6 adults at home waiting for dinner. No pizza available, out of bases. Provided refund but very disappointing...

Really clean, competitive prices, fast (but not too fast, they still cook your food properly which is nice, there's a trend in Canberra to undercook burger patties, but they cook them properly here), convenient parking. I can't really flaw them, they've never done wrong by me. Edit: I see other comments mentioning the staff are rude and yes, I can see where you're coming from as they can be very "short"/blunt. But personally, I wouldn't call this rude, I would call it efficient and quick service, not rude, but true, they won't spend their time small taking to you about the day, they just get to it and do their job. I think some people might be a little precious.;)
