Supporting the local community in such a positive way by purchasing their natural produce is really important in today's rapidly changing world Update 18th Feb 2024..Another amazing morning spent at the markets, the vegetables, fruit, and seeing so many happy people really starts the day well. Update 25th Feb 2024.. The atmosphere as usual was great, music playing, doggies everywhere, and many satisfied customers buying their fresh veggies and fruit for the week ahead.Great work Southside Farmers Markets Update 4th August 2024. It may have been a little chilly at the markets this morning, but that didn't stop the many locals who were out buying all of the local community's produce, knowing it was the " Simply the Best" and supporting the local growers, great work. Also thank you to the 2 young men who provided the live Music to really set the atmosphere alive, they were awesome. Update 11th August 2024 - Another busy and productive morning at the market this morning with plenty of people out and about buying their favorite produce and stocking up for the weeks ahead. Such a vibrant place to visit so if you haven't been before please check it out next Sunday, you will be glad you did. UPDATE 18th August 2024. The market was bustling along again this morning, and great to see so many people out and about supporting the local stall owners again, so well done. UPDATE 25th August 2024. Great to see so many people out again this morning at the market, accompanied of course by many four legged friends, so delightful to see. So pleased that so many locals are supporting Southside Farmers Market. Well done Canberra,

This market is one of my favorites in Canberra because it has a great atmosphere, excellent coffee and always a great busker/music and plenty of variety in stalls. These markets usually open at 8am on a Sunday. There is no charge to get in and they are dog friendly, so bring your fluff ball with you! Some of the stalls only accept cash so bring some with you. There is an ATM on site too just in case you forget. The price of fruit and vege here can vary a fair bit depending on what you are buying but the quality of it has always been good. There are always plenty of stalls that have bread, pastries, fruit and vege, seafood, meats and pasta. There is also a great stall that sells home made moisturizers. There is also a couple great stalls that sell plants. Whether you are after vegetable seedlings or flowers (grown or seedlings), you will find a good range of the seasonal plants available to purchase. There is normally a good amount of seating available at these markets, either in the sun or shade (depending on how busy it is) and also normally plenty of parking on the grounds or just across the road at the Edison park car park. There are also public toilets at these markets so no need to panic if the urge arises! Go an enjoy the atmosphere!

Our first visit to the Southside Farmers Market and it's definitely a place to comeback to on the weekends. Heaps of fresh produce from local and organic farmers. We picked up some amazing figs for an absolute bargain as well as some glorious small capsicums. Those were the standout from our haul. We also enjoyed a chicken tamale and a bean pupusa from an El Salvadoran stall and the were incredible. Also got some takeaway donuts that were very tasty. The markets also have lots a food sellers, places we will need to try in the future, as well as florists, cheese mongers, bakers, specialty pet foods and specialty butchers. Lots of things to try in the future. Only small downside is parking, but that just goes to show how popular it is.

Excellent market. More stalls every few months. Vegetables are cheaper and tastier than at the shops; stall owners are always very friendly and will happily tell you all about their farms if you just ask; even the meat that is expensive will go twice as far as anything you can buy at a supermarket, so in the end the price is about the same. Recently, people have also sold dried legumes, pulses and nuts which you can purchase in paper bags or bring your own lunchboxes for. I love it because it means I can save on plastic without having to go to more expensive health stores (which have loud music and are obsessed with weight-loss products).

You can't beat the whole-cream unhomogenised milk, which is far creamier than anything you can buy in the shopping centers.

Suggestion 1: Occasionally a stall owner will call out "get your XXX produce here! Only $$". This behaviour pulls me out of my relaxed mood and puts me off from visiting those stalls.

Suggestion 2: Encourage people not to park inside the college parking area, unless they are elderly or disabled. Many cars are competing for spaces, lined up one after the other, and blocking pedestrians. There's plenty of space outside the fence, and will only take a minute or so of...
