Read moreThis market is one of my favorites in Canberra because it has a great atmosphere, excellent coffee and always a great busker/music and plenty of variety in stalls.
These markets usually open at 8am on a Sunday. There is no charge to get in and they are dog friendly, so bring your fluff ball with you!
Some of the stalls only accept cash so bring some with you. There is an ATM on site too just in case you forget.
The price of fruit and vege here can vary a fair bit depending on what you are buying but the quality of it has always been good. There are always plenty of stalls that have bread, pastries, fruit and vege, seafood, meats and pasta. There is also a great stall that sells home made moisturizers. There is also a couple great stalls that sell plants. Whether you are after vegetable seedlings or flowers (grown or seedlings), you will find a good range of the seasonal plants available to purchase.
There is normally a good amount of seating available at these markets, either in the sun or shade (depending on how busy it is) and also normally plenty of parking on the grounds or just across the road at the Edison park car park. There are also public toilets at these markets so no need to panic if the urge arises!

Read moreExcellent market. More stalls every few months. Vegetables are cheaper and tastier than at the shops; stall owners are always very friendly and will happily tell you all about their farms if you just ask; even the meat that is expensive will go twice as far as anything you can buy at a supermarket, so in the end the price is about the same. Recently, people have also sold dried legumes, pulses and nuts which you can purchase in paper bags or bring your own lunchboxes for. I love it because it means I can save on plastic without having to go to more expensive health stores (which have loud music and are obsessed with weight-loss products).
You can't beat the whole-cream unhomogenised milk, which is far creamier than anything you can buy in the shopping centers.
Suggestion 1: Occasionally a stall owner will call out "get your XXX produce here! Only $$". This behaviour pulls me out of my relaxed mood and puts me off from visiting those stalls.
Suggestion 2: Encourage people not to park inside the college parking area, unless they are elderly or disabled. Many cars are competing for spaces, lined up one after the other, and blocking pedestrians. There's plenty of space outside the fence, and will only take a minute or so of...
