I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Mount McKay scenic lookout and it was an absolute breathtaking experience. The view from the lookout was simply stunning. From the top of the mountain, you would see the rolling hills of Thunder Bay. The colors of landscape were simply beautiful, from the deep green trees to the bright blue sky. The hike up to the top was surprisingly challenging and adventurous, not too hard though. It was a great way to get some exercise done while enjoying the gorgeous scenery. I was able to take some amazing photos from top of the lookout. I would highly recommend a visit to the Mount McKay. It is definitely worth the effort to get up there and take in the incredible view.

My 4 year old son spotted Mount McKay and begged me to take him. We checked the hours, and headed out with what little spare time we had on our trip. He was so excited heading up the first part of ths road, only to find a lock gate and empty gate house. We called the number, no answer. We waited 20 minutes and left 5 other vehicles came and left too. This was around 1 on a Saturday afternoon in August. If you are not able to cover the hours posted, change them, or leave the gate open. What a waste of time and one very...

It was very quiet when we went as we were the only ones there. There is a viewing platform by the second parking lot, with views of the city and surrounding area. The trail up to the top was not well marked but easy to follow once you find the starting point. The climb is steep with some boulders that need to be climbed, but doesn't take long (about 15-20 minutes). It starts from the first parking lot after the gatehouse, before you reach the statues dedicated to the...
