I have shopped here since it opened and scored free baby eggs for purchase greater than $30. I virtually exclusively eat fresh fruit, veggies and meat/fish so I'm very critical about quality. Hence I shop at a number of shops to get the best produce at best price. I was initially impressed with the produce here in terms of quality and price and started buying most produce from here. But now I've gone back to doing the rounds of the supermarkets and cheaper grocer in Maddington Shopping Centre.
Like all places, the quality and prices here vary so I am selective. Some produce can be cheaper at times and good quality. Other times produce is limp and old, brown spots and outer old leaves removed. Some is same price as supermarkets. While some is cheaper, the size of the fruit or veg is just too big for my preference because I eat multiple pieces per day. I imagine it might even cost more here when buying a quantity of huge pieces at slightly lower price.
The other matter is the check-out experience. Nearly every time I've been there I get hit at the check-out to buy the old cheap produce stacked up on the counter. Do I really look that silly! Today "You want cheap. Very good. You look. You buy." If paying by credit card, a surcharge applies despite the prices being on par across the board with the supermarkets or more expensive than Spud Shed. Last time a week ago my debit card would not work there. The lady before me had the same problem. I make sure I've got cash. Today was the last time. I won't ever go back there. Spuddlies or the cheap grocer in Maddington are better...
Read moreWhen this store first opened it started strong, nfortunately it didn't take long before things went south. The produce is not as fresh as it was, the place is unorganised and a complete mess especially around the checkout (to be fair it always was, we thought it may have been due to opening and trying to work it all out, however it never changed). Lately we tried to give shopping here another go for just limited items that we may need, again the produce is nothing worth having about & doesn't seem to last in the fridge. The trays of eggs somehow in a week have gone up in price from somewhere around 12.99 to closer to 20! And if you're buying them to boil don't bother, half the tray have hairline cracks so they completely spill out the second they touch the water. Most of the tray ends up wasted. The signs for produce aren't always correct, if you happen to notice at the checkout and bring it up, instead of realising they have messed up by leaving the cheaper price sign up and honouring it, they just carry on about it being an old sign even after you've said its fine. It's almost uncomfortable haha. Only one staff member we've gone through the check out with even bothers to try and talk to you, and if the que is backing up you learn quickly not to expect any staff to open up the other till.
We decided we won't be going back after our last stop in, very sad as I said it seemed like it was going to be a great little shop when first opened. Gosnells could have used a great...
