Seven Mile Beach Holiday Park — Local services in Illawarra

We paid $795 for our off-season 2 night stay in the spa deluxe, and we were surprised by the lack of attention this cabin has received. From the descriptions on your website, we were led to believe we would be staying in a newly refurbished, high-quality cabin. While this cabin might not need extensive work, the small details matter greatly for an enjoyable experience.

Here are some specific concerns we encountered. Please note, these have been raised directly with Seven Mile Beach with no response.

Television and Streaming Services: We encountered difficulties accessing apps on the TV due to poor reception, even though we were signed into your Wi-Fi. Additionally, the absence of free in-house movies, which were advertised online, was disappointing.

Cabin Inventory: While we understand that breakages can happen, it would be helpful to conduct a thorough inventory check during the cabin cleaning process. We found: 3 champagne glasses 1 white wine glass only Insufficient cutlery (only 4 steak knives, 4 tea spoons, 6 knives/forks/spoons) no chopping boards 4 mismatched dinnerware sets making up just enough for 6 people

This impacted our stay, as we didn't have enough of the basics required to accommodate 5 people when using the kitchen facility to prepare meals.

Kitchen Appliances: The gas stove had two burners that weren’t functioning correctly, and the dishwasher handle would break off each time we attempted to slide open the drawer, which was quite inconvenient.

Kitchen Aesthetics: We noticed that one section of the kitchen was painted in blue, creating a mismatch in paint that detracted from the overall appearance.

Bathroom Issues: The bathroom urgently needs better ventilation; after one moderate temperature shower, everything became excessively wet. The flooring was also wet and slippery. We noticed this morning what appeared to be black mould growing on the ceiling near the shower head, which raises concerns regarding our health. It is essential to address any mould issues promptly, as they can pose health risks.

Shampoo Dispenser: We faced an unfortunate and disappointing situation when we discovered that the shampoo dispenser contained the same product as the hand soap, which led to significant tangles in both our daughters' long hair. We didn’t realise this until my husband washed his hair as well.

Air Conditioning Remote: The air conditioning remote did not fit its bracket correctly, and when we arrived, we almost stepped on the remote as it was on the ground near the entrance to the cabin.

BBQ Condition: The barbecue had a strong smell; upon investigation, my husband found a container of fat underneath, which held a substantial amount of grease. This not only poses a fire hazard but also attracts pests and creates unpleasant odors, impacting the overall experience.

BBQ Fridge Condition: The outdoor BBQ fridge had not been cleaned in a number of months, which further detracted from our experience.

We love Gerringing and will be back. However, we won't be staying at Seven Mile Beach...

Kiama Council should be ashamed to run this holiday park.

We stayed on the Riverside and the lis of concerns is long! I believe the ocean side is not quite as bad.

The Council should not be taking people’s hard earned holiday money and not providing a safe and clean environment.

Some key items include:

Disgraceful kitchen with a rancid non working oven. It is surely not a big thing to replace an oven and have basic maintenance. There was nothing in the kitchen in the way of cleaning items etc. Non functioning boom gate and basically no control over who entered the park creating parking issues Lack of adequate cleaning in bathrooms and replacement of bathroom items including paper towel. Hair and toilet paper stayed on the floor and in drains for days. Narrow, and unkempt campsites - the table at our friends site was broken and needed to be propped up to ensure safety to the kids I do not believe the bathrooms would pass code as my daughter got stuck in one and it is not possible to fit under or over the door and no external access to the lock. Over the course of a week there was only one holiday activity for the children - we have stayed at many parks and have never not had school holiday activities. There’s just no effort from the park to create a great holiday experience. ^ Presence of a Christian Group which was very strange - they were running activities for kids which was very concerning. Ramshackle permanent area with extremely narrow roads. This whole area is an accident waiting to happen. Hole in the jumping pillow with no attempt to fix it for the duration of our stay.

It’s hard to pinpoint exactly what is going on with this park - clearly there are major issues. The whole park is unclean, poorly maintained and the riverside in particular is like being in an alternate universe. The Council needs to re-invest in this park and properly staff it.

I feel the staff onsite were trying their best but the parks needs capital investment.

The cafe appears to be permanently closed.

Great stay. Greeted at check-in by friendly staff, who continued to look after us throughout the week. Shout out to the team including Clinton, Stacey & Brett. Ensuite was spotlessly clean, large and well maintained. Our site was easy to navigate with our van. The park spans both sides of the road. Both sides have their own pools, playgrounds, BBQs and large camp kitchens. One side also has a kiosk, river and canoes and a talking cockatoo, the other has beach access, jumping pillow and a tennis court. Stacey suggested great local places to eat including takeaway or dine-in options. Grounds beautifully maintained, mown, nice garden beds. Large laundry. The atmosphere was friendly and peaceful, other guests were polite and respectful. Great clean beach with easy access. Dog friendly. Every day we had something fun to do including trips into Gerringong, Berry, Wollongong, Nowra and Kiama. There's so much here at the park and in the local area to keep everyone happy. We've travelled Australia quite extensively over the years and we appreciate a good caravan park. We've stayed at this park before and we'll definitely be back again. Big thanks to the...
