Awesome. We recently visited while staying in Albury. I can remember coming here on a school excursion in 1989 and enjoying it then, but had thought that it had probably degraded over the past 28 years since so i didn't really hold high expectations prior to returning with family November 2017. My wife and I were so impressed by the hard work of the local volunteers from the Jindera community that make this museum so fantastic, a big thank you for all your efforts. In the main building there is a great collection of everyday items from the era, heaps of history on the early german settlers and the hardships they faced, an assortment of clothing, some stained glass doors and leadlight windows from local buildings. Outside there are some lovely gardens and examples of early housing, a large impressive collection of horse drawn vehicles that were used by early settlers and the local council, including an original cart that a family had travelled in from South Australia to Jindera. My children aged between 7 and 12 all enjoyed the experience and would love to go back another time. We were there for about 2 hours but could have spent longer. And entry price is...
Read moreWe had a fantastic day out at the museum today while they hosted the "forgotten trades" event. It was an awesome event with plenty of old lost and forgotten trades that were being shown. Stalls were happy to chat to people, and the museum itself was fully open for all to enjoy. We also had the privilege 18 years ago, had our wedding photos done here for a small fee, and we loved our photos. .great learning place for kids to see a couple prime examples of old day living cottages and main house. My kids loved visiting the museum and interacting with the days events. We didn't take photos today as we just soaked up and enjoyed the event. But would highly recommend taking the kids and family for a lovely 2 hours outing. Head up to Morgan's lookout for added adventure 27kms west towards...
Read moreWhat a wonderful time capsule with friendly and informative staff. Very well curated display, of what life was like, for early settlers in Australia. We were astounded at the extensive exhibition of items, including buildings and the smallest post office I've ever seen. The museum is incredibly well cared for and the committee and volunteers are to be congratulated. If going during winter, a coat or warm jumper is a must. Start or finish your visit, with a Devonshire Tea or other goodies at the Tearooms. Excellent place to bring visitors. Allow at least a couple of hours, overall, to do your...
