Baxter's IGA Prospect — Local services in Launceston

WARNING Please be careful when checking your tattslotto scratchies here. I had a less than ideal experience here and don't recommend coming here for that kind of service, ever. Go to your local newsagent.

I purchased two crossword scratchies and one was a winner of the 10 dollar bonus word, when going to check it I was told there was no winnings. I asked about this at the service desk and the young man serving was lovely but unfortunately (as I understand it) the manager was less than lovely. She told me I was holding everyone up and I had to leave, and to call about it.

When I tried to explain she said again I was holding everyone up and I had to leave, but gave no number to call so I just left. My partner went back in and got the ticket back as I left it behind and we went to the Prospect Newsagent to ask some questions.

They checked it and it did in fact have 10 dollars and they happily gave it to us. Both I and my partner decided to go back to Baxter's IGA to inform them that it actually did win and there was something wrong. Unfortunately the manager didn't seem to want to see us and after over nearly 5 minutes of waiting decided they didn't care enough and we left.

It's only a 10 dollar win but it's the fact that I did win, and your machine told you I didn't and the MANAGER told me to leave. I hope this hasn't happened to anyone else...

These guys deserve 6 stars! Spotlessly clean, helpful and friendly staff, amazing array of specialty produce (I particularly love perusing the cheese deli for amazing local Tasmanian and international cheeses like fresh local Chèvre, Spanish manchego, french triple cream brie, Italian tallegio... the list goes on and on). Not to mention fresh produce, full grocery and deli lines and all the essential at prices just as good or better than you'll find at the big two. This is one hell of a good example why we should be supporting our locally owned IGA supermarkets. Keep up...

Here to complain about an incident. In early October, 2017, I was just walking through the dairy section when a man asks me for cash. I told the man that I didn’t have any money. He then followed me around the entire store, until I went to customer service and explained the situation, all while he was there. The staff tried talking to him but didn’t seem to help me in any way. I was genuinely scared, and the staff did nothing to make me feel protected. Didn’t try calling the Police or anything.
