Where do I even start?

Nestled in a gorgeous nook of West Australian bushland lies this intimate and welcoming village of holiday makers and hosts to ensure you have the very best time.

Our stay within the Gumnut cottage (the large family cottage) was comfortable and well equipped.

The four bedroom, two bathroom house is an older build but has been beautifully renovated and had everything in it needed. As a family of four plus two grandparents at no point did we feel cooped up or on top of each other.

The beds were comfortable, the floors as clean as could possibly be considering it’s a farm! Everything was clean and in great working order in the kitchen. The second bathroom (aka the laundry) has an installed shower with a deep base in it that’s perfect for bathing toddlers in if you chuck a little face washer over the drain.

Things I didn’t know, that I wanted to know, that you might want to know! coffee machine: is Nespresso, buy pods on your way if you’re caffeine powered like me. There is starter pods but you’ll need more for a longer stay. tv is smart. I carted our Chromecast down and didn’t need it. Just remember to sign out after 🤣 there are kids toys in the cottage, don’t bother bringing your own

The private backyard and patio area was perfect for my boys to run amock in when we didn’t feel like walking to the shared playspace and watching the wild kangaroos from the back table with my coffee in the morning will stay with me.

Each morning at 8am the animal feeding was a blast and my boys (husband included) had the best time. Andrew or “Farmer Drew” explains and educates so well, especially given the international nature of the visitors so that information is easily understood. He was infinitely patient with all the children and adults who had perhaps not had exposure to animals in this manner before.

The firepit was a hit each night it was on, with safety an important element but without taking away the joy and fun of roasting your own marshmallows. The pool was clean and lovely to use, being able to look through the glass windows of the indoor pool house to the gumtrees was so relaxing, despite my children’s joyful squealing.

The shared playspace included a fantastically cared for grass space, sand ball court and playground/mud kitchen with sand pit diggers and toys included. It was a lovely comfortable space to relax in while the kids played, and being surrounded by the trees only helped.

MRHC is located only minutes from town and is easily navigated to, even in the dark.

We will definitely be back...

One of the greatest gifts we can give our children is happy memories. And that is exactly what our stay at Margaret River Holiday Cottages gave our family. A more idyllic, family-friendly location you would be hard pressed to find. The hosts, Andrew and Jules, are very welcoming and you can sense their passion and commitment to their family run business. It shows in the little things- the two travel cots thoughtfully provided and made up with fresh linen, all ready to go so this tired mumma didnt have to organise that when we arrived after a long drive from Perth, the toddler friendly marshmallows provided for roasting on the firepit. I could go on and on.... The daily animal feeding was a true hit with our toddler, as was Andrew's exciting truck ride- indeed, our daughter referred to this as 'my truck' for the rest of her holiday. The indoor pool was also a favourite and such an amazing facility for families. Our daughter would drag my husband to use the pool about 5 times a day, so much so we would have to lie on occasion that the pool was 'broken' 🤣🤣 Thankfully the amazing playarea and cubby house were a great distraction for her too. For us adults, the firepit was a lovely addition to our stay and we enjoyed roasting marshmallows with the kids and a nice glass of Vino in the evenings. The cottage itself was well appointed and had a lovely charm and warmth. We were very comfortable for our 4 night stay. We would thoroughly recommend Margaret River Holiday Cottages to anyone wanting to step back, take a breath and enjoy the outdoors. For families this is really paradise and has all the facilites to allow you to enjoy a funfilled,...

LOVED LOVED LOVED. From the moment we drove up the driveway we were greeted by the charismatic Andrew and the bubbly Bindi. After a quick introduction to the beautiful farm animals Bindi drove us around the property in the golf buggy; showing us the hidden gems of the property and welcoming us to our beautiful little cottage that we would call home for the next three days. The attention to detail and small touches of luxury in the cottage made it extremely cosy and a delight to return to every evening. Andrew and Jules have done a magnificent job of making the cottages “country sheike”.

The highlight of our stay was being able to interact with the many rescue farm animals. We were lucky enough to be involved in feeding times and were encouraged to interact with the animals whenever we wanted. We especially loved being able to bottle feed the baby calf’s. It was really beautiful to see the animals roaming free on the property. It was obvious how happy they were from their loving nature and friendliness.

Margaret river has been a highlight of our WA trip. The property is very close to everything that you need to see around the area.

Andrew recommend “vintage wine tours” to us and we were not disappointed. Tony was an excelled host and we tasted some of the most beautiful wine! We took a bottle from the vineyards back to the cottage where we sat and watched the sunset out in the lovely fire pit area otherwise you can enjoy a bottle whilst watching a movie in the outdoor cinema.

Could not recommend this little cottage more for all travellers. Such a wonderful hidden gem of the Margaret river region. 20/10. Love...

For a fantastic family getaway, this cottage is unbeatable! We've now enjoyed two stays here, and the animal feedings and jeep rides are always a huge hit with the kids. Its proximity to Margaret River is super convenient. The Cottage provided ample space for our two families, making it a comfortable and enjoyable stay for all ten of us. We wholeheartedly recommend..

This was the highlight of our WA vacation, and we'd love to return if we visited WA again in the future. The animals were our favourite part, getting to feed them in the morning and then just petting them later in the day. There were also open fields nearby where you could see wild kangaroos. Andrew and his children were wonderful hosts, guiding us to interact with the animals in a gentle manner. Location was great. MRHC is located just outside of town, an easy drive to the nearest Woolies to get supplies for dinner. Yet it was also far enough to minimise light pollution, so you can take in the beautiful night sky. It was also a good base for us to drive to Augusta for whale watching. The other fun activities were in the well-equipped games room, as well as a cabinet stocked with board games that we could borrow. I liked the tiny home very much, it had everything we needed for our stay. I especially loved having a washing machine and an indoor clothes drying rack. The heating worked well, and I truly appreciated the electric blanket for our winter stay. Small details like having marshmallows in the pantry for the firepit was wonderful too. Cooking was fuss free, as they also provide a variety of pots and pans, as well as olive oil, salt and pepper.
