What disappointing course and day.
We drove up from Sydney to play in a corporate social event at Pacific Dunes Golf Course in November and based on my past experience 6-7 years ago and in conjunction with the recent online advertising with a challenging course layout we were really looking forward to a great day, however we were seriously disappointed by the state of a so called ârated courseâ.
Tee boxes were uneven, patchy, no grass on some Started with preferred lies through to the green The corrugation on some fairways and particularly leading up to the start of the fairwayâs is crazy (4, 8,12, 13, 15, 16, etcâŚ) A lot of the fairways were patchy Bunkers were untidy and inconsistent Concrete Cart paths had big step upâs and step downâs Non concrete cart paths were like driving on an obstacle course (need a four wheel drive) General course maintenance is seriously lacking The greens were in a fairly good condition except for the un-repaired or badly fixed pitch marks.
Canât blame the weather for the bad condition of the course. We stayed over at Horizons and played at Hunters valley and Horizon, their fairways and general course conditions were far better. Pacific Dunes course is not worth the money in its current condition. However in saying that based on the above, it has a great layout and a challenging course and could be a really good course if it was cared for! I certainly wouldnât be referring or promoting this course to anyone, or my friends and family in the near future. ITâs a clear RIP OFF.
We stopped at the clubhouse for lunch and some drinks after the game, the service has not improved since moving to the new, larger and improved premises. The price of drinks were outrageous. They also advertised their fabulous new chef??? Well from what we saw, the quality didnât match the prices, so we decided to go for lunch elsewhere (Bull & Bush) because the drinks and food were not âvalue for moneyâ at Pacific Dunes.
Iâm sure the members at this club must be frustrated based on the decline of the course and clubhouse based on the above mentioned or they must be donkeys / sheep to be hanging around at a club like this. The claim that Pacific Dunes Golf Course is rated in the top 25 in Australia is a load of hog. There is no way this course is rated in the top 50 in Australia in its current condition, their current rating must be at least...
Read moreOur group of 8 played here last Saturday and Sunday ..... and on behalf of our group of 8 we would like to express our great satisfaction with the entire experience. The course is wonderful, in excellent condition but the way we were treated was even more special! Jamie and the gentleman behind the pro desk Saturday afternoon were stand outs! Jamie remembered I had played the day before and treated us as welcomed returned guests ... very refreshing ... we felt very well looked after! Later in the afternoon the gentleman behind the counter made it a point to shake all our hands and wish us a safe trip home, even behind the bar the waitress wished our group a safe trip home. This is how service should be provided to golf guests ..... they are the benchmark in golf service standards as far as I am concerned. Needless to say we are already recommending a trip to pacific Dunes to all our golfing friends!
Thank you again for a wonderful experience!

Read moreThe golf course and the proshop was great for a golf weekend away with mates but this review is about the breakfast. I suggest that you arrive hungry, we were a group of 4 and we were all very happy with the quality of our meals. The Big Breakfast is served on a platter and it looked fantastic, I had the avo on toast and expected the avo spread like sparse vegemite on a tiny piece of sourdough as they do in Sydney, hell no! My avo was a couple of centimeters thick on TWO pieces of toast and blended with tasty feta and a couple of perfect poachies on top. The team in the restaurant are very friendly and served great coffee. This would be my permanent breakkie spot if I lived nearby and it definitely softened the blow of the shocker of the round of...
