I really hope the owners and upper management review the footage watching the managers child roam free with no supervision. We were only “disruptive” in the last 3 days. But stayed for months, all because we stood up for ourselves One of the worst experiences. The managers child roam the the park and always no supervision. Constantly expected to be a free baby sitter of said children. Every time I’d try keep my kids at home the managers kids would take them away every chance they got. The managers daughter locked our daughter in the disabled bathrooms (ours is 2 years younger then their daughter)(my daughter is 5) then blamed us. We don’t even know the code so how would my daughter? I received a written warning for this. They needed to keep their children at home so they are not constantly taking my kids away from my site and I’m having constantly chase mine across the park every 5 minutes The managers have a fire pit and would have people in there house constantly for drinks. We had seen this fire pit and they told us an order for heaters had been put in, 2 for the camp kitchen. Yet they kept one for there house at the cost of Big4 and only installed one in the camp kitchen. We got a written warning for using an enclosed fire pit for one night. (Manager is the example of behaviour, with them owning a fire pit then and using it. It’s not crazy for residents to think they can do the same) I’m sure they will claim they have never used it. How convenient They would allow people to block our only foot path to the toilet block. When I tried to tell management I was told “we are trying to cause drama” the people staying at the lot claim the managers gave them permission to block the foot path and no one should walk through So my child and myself would have to walk across hoses and power cords risking tripping when it’s night time instead of using the communal path. (Having cord lay all over the floor for people to walk over is against all OHS regulations) A resident in the Park gave our 12 year old a vape. The resident claimed to of never seeing this vape. We brought this up with management and again they claim it’s in the name of drama. Then claimed my child must of stole the vape. I questioned how that would be possible since the said resident had “never seen the vape”. Manager told me that oh well it must be that I work in a vape shop (which I do not) the constant story changing is a clear sign of lying and toxic behaviour. Cameras everywhere even at the caravan in question so should no issues providing videos evidence before making such a wild claim. They could not produce any. Just said “people sore her go there”. Well yeah generally how visiting someone goes you have to walk and see if there home 🤦♂️ When we told them we were leaving early as we could no longer deal with unprofessional behaviour and standards they have set. They quickly became quite defensive and behaved like children. They decided to lie and have attempted to get us black listed because of “our children’s” disruptive behaviour and money owing. Why is my child and myself penalised for the influence and behaviour set by the managers and managers children. We left the park with 13 days in advance with ledgers as proof. We have seen the email and it’s quit disgusting full grown adults would act like this. My child wouldn’t lie like this OHS is breached often when the managers child is doing maintenance work all over the park. 10/11yr old During school hours! It is very sad that Daniel the maintenance manager is such coward. He lies and hides behind them. Gives you the finger then physically runs away scared. They honestly have no idea how to parent. The house provided to them in the park is a disgusting pig sty that the owners should check it. Once we had enough of their children they tried to slander ours 🤦♂️ When we left he was trying to make me react. A “Professional manager” saying “haha we sent emails haha my partner is the other manager for this park”. All on camera in the front office. Because that’s how...
Read moreI stayed for 2 night in the April school holidays in a family cabin (shared bathroom).
The first thing to note is that this is a 'Classic' Big4. It's an older campground with simple amenities. With that in mind, my stay (with my 10 year old) was excellent and great value for money. The staff are the loveliest, and the place was spotlessly clean.
Our cabin had 2 beds and they were nicely made with comfortable mattresses, bedding and lots of pillows. There were warm fluffy blankets in the wardrobe and we loved them. The kitchen was well equipped, much better than I thought. There was ample crockery, plenty of pots and pans, and all the utensils I needed. The unit doesn't have a full oven (it has a hob and microwave) so i used the shared Camp Kitchen and was impressed - great oven, all the utensils I could ever need, and very clean.
The shared bathrooms which are adjacent to the cabin I stayed in were perfectly adequate and very clean all the time.
The swimming pool is FREEZING. I can't work out how it was so cold but it did not stop children swimming in it. The loungers around the pool were great for me and other parents to lie in and supervise. It was great to see staff pass by every half hour and check to make sure everything was okay in the pool area.
One unexpected highlight was the DVD library in the games room. Our cabin had a DVD player and my child had never seen a DVD in real life. We watched a few movies and really enjoyed the experience - its a great range of DVDs. Plus I found a good book in the collection to read.
It's worth noting that the park has quite a lot of permanent residents in caravans with lean-tos. They were friendly and the park was quiet. It was a surprise, I hadn't seen that before, but it was not a problem. We slept well and heard nothing in the night. There is plenty of car parking.
I loved my get away to Big4 Midland and will be back. As long as future visitors remember it is a 'Classic' park, it should meet all your expectations. Being a 'Classic' it is great value for money! We paid $118 per night in the peak school holiday period and it was...
Read moreWonderful peaceful stay. immaculately clean facilities (bathrooms, cooking and grounds), tent site was secluded in a good way and staff were helpful. Would definitely go back. The site is a short drive from Midland centre shopping centre and train station. We found this to be very convenient. Park was quite full but didn't feel full or noisy. It was very quite when we stayed.
The only reason for not giving 5 stars was the tent parking car parking can be locked in by other holiday makers unintentionally causing a bit of delay if you needed to leave early in the morning for any sightseeing or commitments as what happened to us, but I am sure the park will rectify this by placing no parking signs up in the near future.
Additionally for the differing information of staff members advising various time frames for our stay if we needed to extend. Initially we were informed we could extend to a maximum of 4 weeks where prior to the end of our stay another stated a maximum of 7 days which caused a slight panic. Luckily we didn't need to extend beyond 7 days so I didn't get to test which one was correct.
