The upper lookout is one of the most majestic sights I have ever seen. The lower is less spectacular in that way, but awesome with the domination of the towering landscape. Do the upper first, as the loop includes 650 steps, which are MUCH easier down than up. Or walk back to the car park and then down to the lower lookout. Those with mobility issues can get to the top one fairly easily, bottom one will be a struggle, and the steps impossible.

A moderate to hard walk if you do the full lap. If you choose to go just to one or the other Lookout they are fairly easy, one is an incline out the other a decline out. Both are on easy to walk well made paths. The difficult part on the circuit would be the over 500 steep steps between the two lookouts.

Number 36 of Tasmania’s 60 great short walks. This circuit takes in two lookouts (Cruickshanks & Edge) and along the 697 forest stairs. Highly recommend doing this hike anti-clockwise to descend the stairs (unless you’re keen for a workout!). Time: 45mins + time spent at lookouts, approx 2km, grade 3.

This is the lower viewing platform of Leven Canyon. In my view it isn't as spectacular as the Cruickshanks Lookout. But it does get you closer to the base of the canyon and the river.

The walk from the carpark is down a steep incline. That's easily done. But you'll have to slog up the same path to get back. If that sounds like too much effort, then the Cruickshanks Lookout would be...

Amazing, a must see in this part of the world. Three walks available and all good. Two directly to the lookouts or the round trip , lookout stairs lookout and back to car park. 45 mins all up , we took 65. Ummmm lol Base walk down to river 1 km further on is a must for the walker. Facilities are very good with some overnight spaces available. You cannot afford to...
