What a lovely place. Headed to Katherine from Darwin & decided to stop at Edith Falls for a nights camp. Arrived just after 1pm and was able to get a campsite ($12.50 per adult). Campsite has two sets of shower & ablution blocks. There are BBQ areas throughout the campsite. The facilities & grounds are kept in a very good condition. Very happy to camp here. There is a Kiosk on site that has tourist trinkets and eats but they also have a kitchen that serves up great food. We swam in the closest pool and waterfall in the late afternoon. It was lovely & cool. A little disconcerting was the many little fish biting my legs & heels. This pool is 26m deep & 120m swim to the waterfall. It was easy, I didn’t notice any undercurrents but there are signs warning of this. If you are not confident don’t risk it. The next morning we completed the Leliyn Trail (2.6km loop hike). It has many stone stairs, uneven ground & light scrambling areas, depending on your confidence on rocks moving underfoot or height of path. This was a welcome challenge and did raise the heart rate. Track markings a clear. We had the Upper Pools to ourselves and this broke up the walk. Great to cool off. I only noticed very small fish in this area plus a Herron & a Shag. The loop took us 1hr 15mins & doesn’t include the swim at the top. We recommend to take water & wear good footwear. There is no mobile reception at...

Absolutely Beautiful and Worth the Visit!

This place is stunning! From the car park to the waterfall, it’s not too far. There are two trail options – we took the longer one first (about 30 to 45 minutes), slightly uphill, but totally worth it. The walk itself was beautiful and enjoyable.

When we arrived, we were rewarded with an incredible view. Taking a dip in the water was the highlight – so fresh and refreshing! We honestly didn’t want to leave.

On the way back, we took the shorter trail, which made the overall experience even more satisfying. There’s also a cafĂ© and clean toilets on site, which is a great bonus.

Helpful Tips: You don’t need to bring much – leave extra clothes in the car. Just take water, a hat, and if you can’t swim, don’t forget a pool noodle.

Highly...

Falls themselves are fabulous. The new N.T. Parks' system of booking online before you see the site or know your schedule is awful. You need a desktop computer and the sites are not the size advertised. We booked a 15 x 4 meter site and arrived to find the trees very difficult to negotiate with the van and our site was curved, nothing like the rectangle on the map. Others arrived to find people camped on the sites they had booked and paid for. No rangers in sight to deal with the issue. We had to put up with one inconsiderate camper putting his solar panels on the road, blocking it. Then he started up his generator, against Park regulations. Still no rangers. Get it...

Part 1! See below for more 👇 Our favourite of all: 1) Jim Jim Falls 4wd only! Huge hike over boulders to get there but the most spectacular waterfall ever. Only open 6 months of the year for safety reasons (dry season). In the wet season you can fly over in a scenic flight to see the waterfall in full flow. There's a camp nearby book online/call. 2) Edith Falls There's a bunch of options with visiting many different swimming holes. Located within Nitmiluk National Park. Great swimming wear sun protection. 3) Katherine Gorge and Nitmiluk National Park. So many swimming holes here! Some aren't croc protected so we recommend the kayak tour and we swam in the fourth gorge so beautiful. This Gorge is incredible and the famous 6 day Jatbula trail leaves from here and ends at Edith Falls! 4) One of the best swimming hot Springs in Aus, Bitter Springs đŸ„°đŸ’«đŸ™Œ do not miss it and keep an eye out for the flying foxes. Campsite nearby. Spend at least a night, if not two! . . . #swimmingholes #rockpools #northernterritory #thisisthent #cuinthent #nitmiluknationalpark #katherinegorge #jimjimfalls #naturalpools #explorent #discoveraustralia #visitnt
