Overall not happy with our stay here. Before even arriving our friends were mucked about, receiving not 1 but 3 calls asking for payment when they had already paid. After giving there receipt number each time they were told 'oh yes sorry we had your payment under someone else's name. Then after having paid for 4 nights they called them and told them they had double booked there site for the first night so they would have to come a day later (they were refunded for that night) however we were on the site next to it and no one was on the site for that night. Then on their 3rd day the owner came to them (on a 38c day at about 3 in the afternoon) and told them the site they were on (which they put them on) had been booked to someone else for that night. They were told you have one hour to move to another site or you can leave. This is a family with 4 young children the youngest just 9mths old. Fortunately some other campers who heard what had gone on and couldn't believe it offered to help lift and move the tent. The couple that ended up on our friends site told us that they were actually supposed to be on another site which had been given to someone else. These were not the only mess ups as the day we arrived we were told by a young couple across from us, who had just set there tent up, that the owners had told them they were in the wrong spot (even though they told them to set up there) and that they would have to move. Unfortunately these were not isolated incidents as we heard from 2 other families who also had to move. Although these mistakes were the owners fault he took no responsibility and was very rude. Also bore water throughout the park which we new about but were told there was a rainwater tank for drinking water but it had wriggles in it. Overall not a good experience, beach and second valley are beautiful but would definitely stay somewhere...

Caravan park is very run down and needs a lot of maintenance work I made a written complaint regarding the service I received. My family were told I stuffed up the dates ? family were put into a more expensive cabin and made to pay the difference then stating they had done Le a favour ? I asked to speak to the manager and for his contact details Staff at the caravan park stated to me the owner of the caravan is not contactable ? The owner of the second valley caravan park is two cows I eventually found out who the owner was after obtaining the details from the yankalilla council as the caravan park staff would not provide me with this information I found two cows written response rude and arrogant basically stating my complaint had been investigated and they were satisfied that well established procedures installed by our very experienced competent managers and implemented by their dedicated team have been observed ? When I raised the issue about being compensated their response was it beggars belief that you harbour such a sense of entitlement that you would seek a refund and expect free accommodation? If you are thinking about staying at this caravan park can I suggest when booking your accommodation please make sure you ask for an receive email confirmation of your booking details and be aware that the pictures of the park on their website...

Like other reviewers on here, we have camped at many caravan parks and have no issue with older facilities as long as the place is clean. We stayed over the weekend, the park was PACKED and the toilets were not cleaned the whole weekend (and were not clean when we arrived). There are lots of rules however I did not see any staff at all, other than to clear the recycling/bottles each morning. What they should have been doing was checking that people were staying within their grid square and not parking on the road, blocking road access trying to get their vans out. People in the site next to our friends pitched their large tent and then put all their kayaks, fridge, BBQ etc on half of our friend's site because 'they needed the space'. The park and sites are not sufficient for some of the larger vehicles and vans booked there. I realise that tourism was impacted by Covid and that businesses are trying to increase revenue but there is a limit before it starts to look like greed. We were really surprised and disappointed given the cost to stay there, as it could be an awesome place with some TLC and thought around overcrowding. Second Valley is beautiful and the beach is lovely but we will not be returning...

Second valley is a great little spot but the caravan park was a dissapointment. Perhaps the current management did not realise a business like this takes a lot of work and commitment when taking on a venture like this. The facilities are modest but generally adequate it just needs some maintenance, regular cleaning and a bit of care factor. The showers are not cleaned routinely and there were old soaps on the shower cubicle floor that were just left there, and old pair of underpants on the steps leading to showers that looked like they had been there for weeks. The camp kitchen is dirty and has no hot water. When I put a pot of water on the gas burner to heat up for my dishes while I had a shower next door I came back to a staff member lecturing me about being a fire risk. The kids playground is an old jet ski and patch of sand. The grass was not cut and just left to its own devices. If staying in a cabin bring your own quilts or blankets as those provided are lightweight and paper thin. A lot of work goes into making signs about the park rules, perhaps some of that energy could go into doing some painting or cleaning.

Love the walk, camping in perfect area. If you rent a cabin, look for switch underneath the bed for your phone, bring your own hairdryer, tiny bathroom getting flooded but good beds, slept well, good heating system, kept warm! And good hot shower pressure after all... Great stopping point before heading to ferry for kangaroo island. Go fishing on the jetty, go swimming with the kids, take a walk on the hill, breathe the iodine and the eucalyptus, be thankful to th his Earth. Bore in use, you will get rain water from the outside tank. Great people, reasonable safe ;)
