Maroochy River Golf Club — Local services in Sunshine Coast Regional

I was invited to a corporate style golf day at the Maroochy River golf club on the 14th of May. I have just found out I need to be gluten free and this is totally unfamiliar territory for me. I arrived and the kitchen was serving finger style food to all the guests. I simply asked with very low expectations is there any gluten free food ? The lady who I enquired with said follow me I’ll organise something for you. Within a few minutes I had something eat and I went off to play golf. Upon my return to the club house some 4.5 hours later I noticed there was more food being brought out and it looked Tasty. Unfortunately I can’t eat those things 😩. To my surprise this same lady and another young gentleman approached me with the most beautiful Gluten free (almost identical) specially prepared canapés I have ever had. They were delicious. I was blown away with the service, so were the people around me, we were gob smacked that they had gone to the effort to make sure I was catered for. They had no prior warning and we were in a very large group. I was happy to go without. Such great service. Little things done well. Thankyou to all and sundry that made my day so awesome. I’ll back with friends and family. Ps the golf course was in great shape and the Greens were 1st class. Well done...

I am giving a 1 star review because I couldn’t do 0. My bothers, cousin and I came to Maroochydore for a family holiday and we were so excited to go golfing and have a fun time. But, the assistant manager, (Cameron) would not let us play because we only had 1 golf set, we have never had this problem with any other golf courses but Cameron decided that it was disgraceful to only have one golf set. The first words he said to my brother when he saw him was, “Im guessing you’re not playing seriously”, which is very rude and shouldn’t be tolerated by anyone, let alone the assistant manager. Cameron couldn’t have the courtesy to let us have a fun time while we are on a family vacation all because we didn’t have a golf set per person, we also offered to pay for a second set but yet he still refused it and he could not accept it. We played this course today (Friday 14/8/15) and were confronted with beautiful weather, friendly staff, terrific service and a golf course that was simply a delight to play. Although brand new, the grass cover on tees, fairways, greens & surrounds was really excellent. The layout is varied, interesting and provides ample challenges for all standards of golfers both male & female. There is plenty of water for the unwary and plenty of strategic bunkering to keep you thinking. The greens are true and while quite firm, will accept a well struck approach shot. The fairways are generous and from the tees there is no difficulty in seeing where you should hit it. A really enjoyable experience overall that will only get better as the course matures. The only detraction was that the bunkers being new had heaps of sand in them and because they are yet to settle, you can get poached eggs. A highly recommended golfing experience. John Ashby &...
