Beautifully situated spa with peaceful outlook into the pines. The hot tub is really warm (perfect for the cool spring weather and very welcome after a 2-3min plunge in the icy cold water of the plunge pool. The steam room and sauna are exactly what you’d expect. We were glad to have booked the 90min experience as I think 1hr would have felt too quick! Be aware that it is a big step down into and up from both the hot tub and plunge pool so anyone with mobility issues may find it difficult.

We booked the Private Sanctuary. Basically hiring a sauna, steam room, spa and plung pool for ourselves for an hour. The place was beautifully presented with a pleasant outlook over the bush and a small steam. Plenty of towels, large robes and citrus flavoured water to drink. The step (drop) into the spa and plung pool were really big so getting in and out is a struggle if you haven't been practicing your box squat jumps. Otherwise a really relaxing treat.

What's up with all these 5 star reviews? Are these all fake or just blind idiots? The douchnoggins rating this place 5 stars need to have their rating privileges removed. I wish I had trusted my gut when reading the low starred reviews.

I guess that now the place is up for sale, no upkeep is being done, but it's also clear that any care about the place stopped a long looooong time ago.

My review is: the "sanctuary" (hot pool, cold pool, steam/dry room) would be okay if you're blind, or just squint lots, that's about it. Or if it cost $50 for 90 minutes, and not $190.

It was a total rip off considering the very poor state of the place, and is therefore a very high price for what it is. Stay away if you were expecting a five star experience, this is far from that.

The pre-shower in the Sanctuary was grubby and had what looked like mould or scum on the walls.

The hot pool clearly hasn't been cleaned in a good month or two. Ewww. There were many green algae growth rings around the pool at very different water levels. The algae came off with a soft wipe and so there isn't any excuse for this.

We didn't even go into the cold pool as there were pupes floating on the top, and the filter wasn't running. Why would the filter not be running??

The steam room smelt funny and had mould or something else yukky all over the inside lower part of the door.

The dry heat room had broken gauges.

The floor tiles had been fixed with the wrong grout colour (white instead of black) right in front of your face when you're in the hot pool. Looked super janky. Some others had been replaced with a different tile, and also using the completely wrong grout colour. Oofff have some respect for your craft tiler person!

The pool tile work must have been done by a drunk apprentice. With a paper bag over their head. While upside down. And with no arms. It looked INCREDIBLY unprofessional.

3 of the 6 hot pool jets were working.

The locker room doors were falling off.

The slippers were made for gnomes. I could get the front half of my big ole European feet in them. That'd be okay if this was in Japan. It ain't in Japan.

The shower in the locker room had the fan vent mounted in a ceiling so crumbly and water damaged, that it looked like it was just about to fall on you.

The front desk lady was nice, although only 1 person covering the whole place, like, what? She wasn't even at the front desk when we left as someone else happened to be in the building, so she was off with them. My wife wanted to complain, but couldn't, because the place was empty of staff, ummm whaaat??

If you sell champagne, then you need to know what dry champagne is. That's.... a pretty standard champagne question.

If I pay for 90 minutes, then I don't expect to be "belled out" 5 minutes before my time is up. That's what the time between bookings is for.

The "welcome" stand sign was inexplicably placed directly in front of the entrance/exit door, blocking the middle third of the doorway when we left, so we had to squeeze around it just to get out of the building. Umm what?

Had a shower in the locker room when we finished. Then we had another shower when we got home to clean the remnants of this place off us. And this is coming from someone that had just been a part of the great unwashed camper scene for the last couple of weeks.

2 stars because when I squinted it was okay, and the wine made me...

Unfortunately we had an appalling experience here. I'd been to the spa many years ago and loved it but obviously things have gone badly down hill. We booked the sanctuary only to find that the 'hot tub' was cold. When I went out to speak to the one and only staff member - I couldn't find her because she was busy giving a massage. I called out and she eventually came out and told us they'd been having issues with the tub, that she knew it was only 20 odd degrees (not ideal in the middle of winter) but assured us 'it would heat up'. Yes, right! She said she'd ring her manager. I waited another 10 minutes but nothing happened and so went out to try and find her again. I couldn't find her. Why do they only have one staff member to service a whole spa? I eventually rang the spa's phone number and was put through to the Hotel next door. I explained that the hot tub was cold. They sent someone over. Not sure who she was but she explained that they'd been having trouble reheating the hot tub. Confirming that they knew it was a problem! Why didn't the staff say something? Why not forewarn me? Why not ask, did I want to go ahead? No - they blatantly took my money and pretended all was well. They then offered me HALF my money back! Half! It was so unprofessional. I said I wanted to a full refund, which did eventuate but the fact that I had to ask was just awful. We were looking forward to a relaxing birthday treat at the spa but it was beyond unprofessional and a complete waste of time. In addition, there were dirty towels in the sanctuary. Broken tiles in the hot tub. I've been to many spas in many places and this was by far the worst experience I've ever had. Unfriendly staff, dirty and poor quality facilities, and poor service....

Nestled in the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park, Waldheim Alpine Spa offers a rejuvenating spa experience surrounded by some of Tasmania’s most stunning landscapes. From the moment I stepped into the spa, I felt an immediate sense of calm—the decor blends seamlessly with the alpine environment, creating an intimate, cozy atmosphere that invites relaxation.

I opted for the Cradle Mountain Escape package, which included a full-body massage and a soak in their private hot tub overlooking the breathtaking wilderness. The therapists were exceptional, blending local ingredients like Tasmanian lavender and eucalyptus into the treatments, creating a sensory experience that felt authentically connected to the landscape. The relaxation lounge, with its crackling fireplace and views of Cradle Mountain, was the perfect spot to unwind after my treatment. Waldheim Alpine Spa is a must for anyone looking to reconnect with nature in...
