The Channon market, is the best hippy market anywhere in Australia. Lots of natural home made, grown, prepared or cooked food. Plenty of seating in the alternative food section and shade. No dogs allowed. Toilets are clean. We did bring our own toilet paper because these markets are very popular. The early bird catches the worm. They have free buskers, but we gave a donation anyway. Lots of families come here. There is a paid parking area, in a big paddock. Which the money goes to a local charity. All roads leading into the town are skinny so beware of locals and traffic. You wonât be disappointed. Bangalow markets are also very popular. Not far from Byron bay. Bring your Cash. If youâre an explorer, I like to go to. The Best Of All Lookout, on Repeater Station Road, Springbrook. Natural Bridge, in the Numinbah Valley. On Nerang- Murwillumbah Road. And Flutterbies Cafe, in the charming village of Tyalgum. Which also has a popular hotel and a big in ground pool for the kids. And Numinbah Valley Bush Camping. And Bochow Park is also popular. You will need to bring your picnic basket. Free gas bbqs. Clean amenities. Some people have stayed here over night in their camper vans in the car park. If you enjoy Organic Certified food. I recommend Mungalli Creek Dairy Cafe from the Atherton Table Lands, for their Organic Tasty Cheese, Organic Yogurt with the Native Davidson Plum purĂ©e and Organic Certified ice creams. I buy these products from Market...
Read moreThe Channon Craft Market is just that. Crafty things that literally everyone has in their studio/shed/linen cupboard for example. These people just had an idea and seemingly 'made it overnight' into stalls where all tourists (yes, even the locals act like tourists to things they have not seen) seem to congregate and discuss. Marvellous, the experience was from the moment I was greeted with a smile at the gate for parking my 'Beast' ($3 was the parking fee, highway robbery if you ask me considering the ribbons put up everywhere, they must have planned an event type of thing, I have it on good authority that the 'collection' is for a 'good cause but still), the parking officials with their 'high visibility' outfits are certainly eye catching and were a delight to watch with gentle banter observed between themselves. It was eye candy for me to see. Anyway, what was I talking about, ah yes the Channon Craft Market. You would 'be Mad' not to visit the place when it's on the 2nd Sunday of every month and I think they have 2 'markets' in December but check the website for info closer to the day as 'wet weather' and other 'catastrophes' do...
Read moreThe Channon Craft Market is a Northern Rivers institution. The grounds are well laid out with a mixture of food vendors, craft both local and other and various mixed stalls. I would like to see more antiques and collectibles available - there were only 2 the day I went. There is live entertainment throughout the day. The food stands are, in my view, overpriced for a market but I guess that is what happens when the tourist dollar is probably in play. Parking costs a gold coin which is another minus but I was told it goes to a good cause but when queried the good cause could not be nominated. Would I go again - yes! In fact have next one in my diary. Would also imagine this is a great place to bring visitors to the area to get a bit of the...
