Ok.. the dogs are the stars at this place. Rightly so. They will show you the various dogs they have at different stages of their training, so if things don't go according to the description of the presenter, don't worry. Make sure you book. They are trying to stick to their covid plan, so be mindful and respectful of this. On arrival you'll be given a sticker for the show then again due to the social distancing rules, you'll be shown to your seat when your name is called up. A bit of feedback... and making it clear this is NOT A COMPLAINT. There are two attractions at this place, the dogs and the truffle discovery centre. We were booked for the 11a.m dog show. But they advertise as open from 10, so we got there at 10 wanting to know a little more about truffles. They have tasting of the truffles, but when we got there at 10, things seemed a little haphazard. They were waiting for someone who would give the tastings.. but no one turned up. More customers turned up and it became too crowded in the little shop so we stepped out due to the amount of bodies and social distancing rules. So we missed out on tasting, which is no problem. We still bought our oil and were more than happy to support this local business. This is a great attraction for all ages, give it a go. $25 for adults and $5 for children make it a reasonable choice for things to do in Stanthorpe. Sorry, no photos. I was more interested in watching what the...
Read moreWhat a wonderful experience. The dog show is worth it and one gets an idea of how patient one needs to be if doing specialist dog training. Also did a very short tour of the truffle nursery and bought some truffle oil. Using the latter in cooking (very small quantities) and it adds amazing taste and complexity to a dish. There is also local honey one can purchase. Definitely pop in if you're in the area. Check the website for opening days as they are not open that often. When we went they were only open on Wednesday and Saturday from 11am. Also check when they do the...
Read moreVery interesting display of young dogs in training to be defence and attack dogs in the security industry and dogs to be used for detection and as truffle dogs. The training focuses on teaching skill without cruelty. Their plan to rescue and train abandoned dogs is highly commendable and fabulous to see in action. The property is beautiful and I loved learning about the Australian truffle industry and viewing their fledgling truffle farm. They have a great shop with lots of local produce which can be sampled and...
