We walked in, surprised to find a charge for entry fee $5 each into the farm. When browsing, noticed the dozen eggs sold here for nearly $8, when on our way here we bought dozen eggs for $3.50 from a local farmer.
We purchased a few things; fresh produce ( strawberry, blackberry and raspberry). We bought a small sample size mixed berry jam for $8. It was very disappointing, the jam tasted like more sugar than berries, could not taste the berries in the jam. In comparison to commercial jams, commercial jams have 30% sugars this was 50%. To us, this was a jam that compares to supermarket home brand jam. When we went to the shop to give this feedback of the jam and that we were very disappointed by its taste and would rather have purchased a fresh produce, we were just explained how a jam is made 50% sugar 50% berries.
The farm we felt was more of a hype and felt it was taking advantage of the tourist...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe Westerway Raspberry Farm is our family business and we love sharing this pretty part of Tasmania with visitors. I was disappointed to read the comments of one internet troll today in Google Reviews who personally vilified a well meaning, polite, kind but, on a busy Easter Sunday when we were unfortunately understaffed, overworked and over stretched team member. This is totally inappropriate and unacceptable and I have flagged this comment to Google to be removed. We appreciate everyone's feedback. We know we don't always meet customers expectations and we need to know when we disappoint people. And we certainly accept all have out off days. But it is important to keep feedback civil and constructive and we will endeavour to take this content and criticism on board to improve the experience for our next visitors. Thank you Richard PS Sorry for giving ourselves "5 Stars" - I didn't know what...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThere are two parts to my review. The ice cream was amazing, and the people were great! But I also canāt say enough about the family that owns the farm. I was traveling with my very pregnant wife & 3 young kids. We were traveling back to Hobart on the last day of our Tassie trip. We had left the nearby park in our RV when we blew a tire. A very nice gentleman drove by and offered to drive back to pick up his son & come help me change the tire. Minutes later they returned & did all the heavy lifting to help me change the tire & get us back on the road. Turns out it was Rob (owner of Westerway farm) & his son Tom. They were so genuine & so graciously willing to help. And they saved us from a very long day with 3 kids under 5 years old that needed to get back to camp to get some rest.
Thank you Rob & Tom! And thank you for the great...
