Собор был построен в 1821 году в стиле классицизма как костел тринитарского монастыря. После закрытия монастыря в 1847 году был перестроен под православную церковь. Отсюда и особенности архитектуры. Был закрыт в 1930 году. В августе 1941 года открыт, и из местного антирелигиозного музея в собор были перенесены мощи преподобной Евфросинии, игумении Полоцкой. Затем осенью 1943 года мощи были перенесены в Софийский собор, но рака осталась. Сильно пострадал в годы войны и долго восстанавливался. Очень необычный, красивый собор....
